IF your not planning on doing to many corrugated roads, or outback travel on rough roads at speed, they should be ok.

Foam cells are good for steering dampers that run horizontal, for the gas to stay in the foam, and are cheaper to make [thats why a damper is cheaper than a shock] and if they get hot, the foam lets go, and gets stuck in the valving, and they dont recover.

          Re: ironman lift kits

Hey guys, have had my ironman suspension in for about 1.5 years/40000 km and it has developed a squawk in the front end. Put it up on the hoist at work this arvo and discovered that the lower bush in both struts are totally shagged. I've caught it just in time before the metal tube starts to rub on the strut itself. Just looked at the warranty on them and Bugger, just out. Would have had to send them back to Perth where I bought them from anyway and as its our only car that would have been a real pain, so I'll just have to get some new bushes and get them fitted locally. Hopefully better quality ones! Other than that, have found them to be OK. Haven't noticed any sag since fitting them. Did the CSR last year and had no probs

Mine have done about 15,000km and the bushes have also let go in the front. Dissapointing to say the least.

Same problem here, however when I rang Ironman to get replacement, even though I didn't have reciept and it has been over two years they sent me two, via courier, free of charge. That's pretty good of them although they probably shouldn't have worn that much. You may be better of with better quality ones.

                      Re: ironman lift kits

I'm thinking of putting the Ironman lift in my 1kz diesel. Only have the sovereign bar, but intend to add a winch and dual batteries later this year, so can live with a hard ride for the time being. I do a fair bit of dirt road touring so won't be fitting foam cell shocks. I'll put in the Gas ones.

Out of curiosity, if the bushes appear to be failing, should I buy better bushes in the first instance and install them? I'm thinking something like Pedders Urethane ones? Anyone know if they'll fit?

                      Cheers

I have priced a constant load foam cell 41mm kit installed from Ironman Kewdale yesterday. Fully fitted is $1362 including wheel alignment as compared to $1012 for the kit alone by itself.

To be honest, that doesn't seem like a bad price for fitting to me... An alignment is what, $40-$60? Most workshops are $100p/h... plus the insurance you have that it has to be done properly.
(however for that price supply only, I would look at this, free shipping too http://www.4x4suspensions.com.au/pro...oducts_id=6682 )

                              No complaints from me.
Much better ride than what was there before... (the 7 year old original stuff) EFS gear comes with a good warranty, which is what got it over the line for me.
Nice and firm, but not rough. The car used to float around like a boat and had far too much body roll before, all that is gone now though.

Don't let the bush issue deter you. I had exactly the same thing with another brand of strut. Keep an eye on it and if it looks a little worse for wear after a few thou then call them up and get a new pair sent to your door for install later on...
