    Hi guys,

Fitted my airbags today with airbagman. Took me a little less than 3 hrs and cAme out well. Thanks for all the info for the prado point members and especially Craig for the tips over the phone.

Will be doing my shocks soon after I get enough info to get the gear.

    Cheers

    Karthik

Karthick...that's a good result. It took me the course of the weekend..even had to get help from Craig. The real PITA job we found was getting the M6 allen countersunk bolt through the top of the airbag then retaining the M6 Nylock nut from the top. I'm lead to believe these were not around when Amts did his but the new OA6011's (airbag man) now have this feature. The nut sits right next to the chassis over the top of the airbag so it's a real pain to locate/sit on bolt from the top then tighten. 2 pairs of hands really help wonders here! I took some pics which I'll post on the OA6011 thread. My height has gone up and down in the last week. P/S seems OK now (825) but D/S was last at 850 @ a week ago now. Think I'll have to take some washers out.

Still a great result and product. They're not cheap but rather do this than buy OEM for a bit less money. Look a bit longer and more robust. Thanks again goes to Craigm who helped me out big time...I will post pics...

Edit..both now 820mm after a serious bump round Belthorpe N.P. ATF needs sorting tho!!

        Macaroon,

I had the same issue in getting the countersunk bolt to the airbag(amts kit had a different top plate). But i tried to keep my focus on to locate the holes with my fingers and try to place the bolts over there and try to bite the thread with the bolt. It was a painful exercise but succeeded at the end. (like challenges though)

With ride heights, I have 820 on the right and 830 on the left. I believe this is normal. I tried to play around with the sensors but if I change on the left the height goes down on both bags.

Yet to order my suspension kit to level the car with the raised arse end. It will be help to know what suspension brand u guys are using with the lift?

Unlike your good self I did things the other way round as I had my front struts/coils and rear shocks replaced some years ago now. I kept the OE airbags; ideally if these are kept they need to be retained by a clip or pin etc. Mine were not!!!! Bad mistake!

Other members have different set- ups but I've Tough Dog 40 mm adjustables (like my sig says). In the old days they got a bad rap but I've never had a problem and they are fine for me. If you need the part numbers feel free to give me a PM. They are only adjustable from the actual shock/strut though through a dial.

As you alluded to, the job is doable for 1, just had a small space and was running out of time. After trial housing I found I had not cut enough of the top housing away for the airbag to mount..hence the need to call for help! Doing it again I would be a lot quicker with 100% achievement ..that's my reckoning! Well done 2 u, there's always immense satisfaction when you save money and do something yourself!!
