  • suspension prado 120 sag 2inch kit

    Hi
Just seeing if you guys have measurements from hub center to wheel arch on a standard prado and a lifted prado.

This is the measurement i was asked to get

I lifted my 120 2inches, about 8 months ago and i believed it has sagged.

98% highway driving, my wifes daily car.

    My measurements are

    front 555mm

    rear 565mm

measurements from bottom of rim to arch

    front 785

    rear 795

Just chasing measurements of other prado before i pay money to remove my springs to check unsprung measurement for warranty.

Have you looked at the suspension sticky at the top of this section? Usually the aim is 800mm at the front and 20mm higher for the rear.

Front is pretty good at 785mm
Rear is a bit low, standard is about 780mm so you want around 820mm.

800 is not too bad, depends how much fuel & load you are carrying, which rear coils do you have?

        Thanks for the response.

I have had lovells suspension installed with the medium duty springs.

My car is a 06 3ltr diesel with alloy bar and second battery. So not many accessories to way it down, so that way i went medium duty.

I got the front set to the highest setting so the car sat even.

I believe it was 820mm front and rear once it was installed.

My measurement above was with 90lltr of fuel and that it.

I think i will have the springs removed and measured up.

If they are sagged as i suspect, i will replace them with king springs.

Ok, I have had the opportunity to sell lovells & think their gear should be good, but so happy with the Dobinsons, I can't go past it.
Therefore cannot comment on your selection.
Please let us know if u find sag, original bench height & sagged bench height.

It may just be a case of not the right spring for the job.

The Lovell's softer option is a 260lb Spring that is 380mm long free height.
The HD option is still only 260lb, but is 400mm long free height.
The Kings soft option is 260lb & 390mm long free height.
The HD option is 320lb & 390mm long free height.
The Dobinsons are the softest of the lot, but use a longer coil to gain the lift. They are around 210lb for the soft option and 420mm long free height.
Medium is 230lb and 410mm long free height.
HD is 285lb & 410mm long free height.
I have usually used the Kings with good results.
The Std raised rear usually gives approx 50-55mm lift over standard & with a loaded car for a trip usually only drops around 10mm from that.

My preference is for the Kings because of my knowledge of them & ####### prefers the Dobinsons through his knowledge of them.
Either way you can't go too far wrong.

            Regards, Jason.

              Hey Jason,

Nice post, I used to use kings, but as you say about dobbos being softer & longer to get the lift, I find customers like to be able to keep the comfort too! So Dobinsons is the best chance of their satisfaction Is the main reason I mainly use them.
Also I find Dobinsons service second to none & you know it's all about trying to get service these days.

              ####.

The only spring with a limited lifetime warranty & never a hassle to deal with them for anything.
We all have to support our Aussie companies or we will all end up using imported rubbish springs.

                Regards, Jason.

If you got the KTRR119 (400mm long) lovells your rear shoul be around 800-805mm empty boot with full tanks. If you got Ktrs119 (380mm long) your rear will be around 785mm. I had my back springs changed within 3 months of installing as i removed my rear air bags after failure.
