  • Would you reuse the OEM suspension top bushes

Hi I attempt to fit my rear suspension today but realize it does not include the top bushes.

Would you reuse the OEM bushes? I check and see that the
OEM bushes would not fit the new suspension as the hole on it is not really circle. I would have to drill a hole

Where can I buy the bushes/washers? I was looking in my local SuperCheap store but could not find any!

I actually found the part from Nolathane http://www.nolathane.com.au/product_...t_number=43113 but it's pretty expensive. Not sure if there is any cheaper alternatives

    Thanks

That's unusual that it doesn't come with bushes. Contact Jason. He should be able to sort you out with bushes from Bilstein Sydney.

            WTF? Really? Why?

That just doesn't make sense. New shocks without bushes??

Even if Bilstein doesn't provide bushes, (sounds unbelievable) the retail supplier should. Old worn bushes would be worn and hardened, you wouldn't want to reuse them on new shocks.

            ZORDO should explain...

Lots of Bilsteins don't come with top bushes.
Normally the Toyota bushes are better quality than the aftermarket bushes & are perfectly reuseable. I will always use the factory bush where possible unless cracked or split.
In Vans case he has the oval bush which I was not aware of.
I will have some new bushes in the post on Monday.
Van did not make me aware that his bushes were the oval ones.
                Cheers

                  Hey all,

It's actually very common that Bilstein doesn't supply bushes with their shocks. Most after market fitting of Bilsteins reuses the OEM bushes.

The quickest solution in this case would be to drill out the OEM bush, you won't hurt it, it's quick and easy to drill out.

Regarding re-fitting OEM bushes, in most cases it's not an issue, but sometimes they have definitely been over tightened and have started cracking/splitting at the edges.

I suppose after doing hundreds of Prado's I fit these rear shocks all the time & don't even think about bushes.
I have package up some new bushes & marked them top & bottom.
Van, sorry about the inconvenience, I have not done an airbag Prado for years & forgot about the odd bush on this model
                    cheers

Thanks everyone feedback. No dramas ZORDO & thank you for the bushes, your shipping was amazing fast though. I don't even know about the oval bushes until i remove the old shocks .
Now, I have other problem to worry about. After fittings the shocks and the airbag spacers, turned the car on and see that it's not as high in the rear as I expected, even lower than the OEM shocks . Then somehow I decided to go for a test drive hopefully the airbag height sensor would adjust correctly. Unfortunately my left airbag pop out as I obviously forgot to check to make sure the top mount was in correct position. Both my bags didn't have the upper retaining clips >.< and I didn't even think about positioning the top mount as I focused on installing amts's spacers . I will probably have no car for 2 weeks until I got the new part. I will redo the whole set when I got your bushes. Cheers.
