To all,
it has now been done a 2 inch lifted Grande Air Bag is now availalbe from the AirBag Man is QLD, I have installed the first set last weekend and It all fits great and the height control sytem still works fine. Standard height is now 820mm from bottom of rim to guard.

Thanks to Brett Cutis of the Airbag man to help me with the convewrision a job well done

Some of the members here have had a lifted Grande without the need of changing the airbags for a number of years now.

Mine is one of them.

What retainers has he used?

I am aware of Grandes being lifted by adjusting the levels sensors or spacer blocks being installed and fitting limiting straps to limit the travel on them,

The conversion I have done, instals a longer bag with no need for spacers or limiting straps, and the bag has enough length to work woth a long travel shock and still be retained on the spring seats at maximum length

Is this the link to the thread with the Airbagman photos?

I can't tell right now as that link is blocked by the old work firewall/content filter. I guess I'll just have to check it out tonight.

No auto levelling and ride height adjustment works exactly the same as the factory set up , regarding price you will need to request pricicng from the Airbag Man as I did a deal with him as I provided input in the eginneering process.

I cant say longer bags would be a fix for anything useful, unless using shocks longer than the aftermarket ones currently used, because the standard bags just work, and retaining the mounting pin fixes the blowout problem some have.

820mm height with standard shocks would be right on the limit for droop of the rear shock as well, so to run this height self levelling doesnt really make sense to me.

Just finished having my ToughDog / Airbagman suspension kit fitted to my 120 LC5 (Grande equivalent), and am very happy - ride is way better than OEM, the lift is not too hectic, and clearance is better - altogether a class product I think. The kit has everything you need to do the job. Plenty of room now to fit the Cooper 285/70x17 STTs that are on order!

Time will tell, but I suspect I'll be very happy - roll on Morocco and the Spanish Pyrenees in 2011

Grande Air bags

Is there a problem with fitting 285/70 R17 tyres on the standard Grande rear? I would have thought only the front would have a problem.

I'm pretty sure that the rears will be ok, but they certainly won't fit on the front. My Cooper 265/70x17s rubbed on the front and rear guards and lower wishbone, especially under strut compression on full turn lock, until I put in 30mm spacers. Those can probably come off now I reckon. No more rubbing.
