    Re: clunking rear

There used to be a problem with a check valve/flap in the fuel tanks, some were changed under warranty when new.

I chased a thumping noisy in the rear as well, and eventually found mine was caused by the spare wheel plastic panel hitting door when on rough roads.
If you remove the wheel and plastic cover you will be able to see a scuff mark on the door paintwork, IF that is the same as with yours.
I rectified mine by getting some of those cheap stick on 1" felt or rubber pads and packing the plastic away from the door skin.

Could be suspension bushes. Could be when the shockers are extending they're causing a clunk. How many kms has it done? I had clunks coming from mine (had over 200,000kms on the original suspension) and when I had the shockers replaced all the clunks were gone.

            Re: clunking rear

I went with Bilstein shocks and struts. Kept the original springs as I was happy with general ride quality. They haven't sagged and I rarely carry a heavy load or tow anything substantial.

The Bilsteins are awesome. Ride quality is still very comfortable but with the added bonus of CONTROL over bumps and corrugations! I was going to go for TJM XGS but my local TJM store had a set of Bilsteins lying around (they used to sell them but not anymore) and gave them to me for the same price. Very happy.

            Cheers.

Thanks for the info, I'm really interested to see the difference, How much are for bilsteins? Im not in the city so competitive pricing isnt real good here, one thing I did notice as well was on faster corrogated sections it did get a little squirly in the rear, which reconfirms, "the shock probrem".

                Re: clunking rear

I think from memory they charged me $160 for each rear shock and $220 for each front strut. Plus fitting.

However I don't think these are normal prices for them. As I said they were the last in stock and just wanted to move them as they don't carry them anymore.
