  • Perfect lift kits Prado120

    Hi everyone

I came across these kits https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Fits-Toy...sid=m570.l1313

Has anyone fitted this kit, I’m looking for some feedback, at the moment my stock suspension is fine so instead of ripping it out maybe look at installing these.

    thanks

I went thru all the feedback and reviews for these and and they’ve sold a few to 120 and 150 Prado owners, so I’m hoping someone on here has purchased a kit.

Well bit the bullet and purchased the kit, should be here by next weekend, so I’ll put up some photos etc. as I install it.

Off the top of my head... CVs will be destroyed by the increased angle any lift over 2", CV boots will leak immediately and spray grease everywhere. Are you are using stock spring and shock rates which are under damped anyway to control a lifted Prado? How old is the suspension? And if you are using stock shocks at the back with a 2" lift you will have little droop and will likely top out the shocks easily.

If the suspension is original then it will have sagged so you might only get 2" at the front or less so the CVs may be ok. The rear will still be an issue.

Sorry, I never saw your original post or I would have said this before you bought.

Not sure where you are but in the back of my head I think strut spacers and spring spacers aren't legal either. Best check with a mechanic who does safety certificates / road worthies.

          Thanks mate for your comments.
The kit has a diff drop included which should cover the issues with the CV’S,
I’ve got standard suspension which is in good nick so hoping that will be ok. As for legality jury is still out on that one, fairly sure that f they are illegal it needs to be stipulated on their website that they are only for off road use.

Post up you rim to guard heights before you fit. You will have issues with the rear shocks dven if the diff drop sorts the front.

get some advice about legalities, dont rely on their website.

just for peace of mind, what do you base your information on, personal experience with these types of kits etc. Thanks

Assuming your Prado is not a mall crawler, expect a bent strut going through a washout at high speed. Seems to be quite a common occurrence using strut top spacers.

No personal experience but strut top spacers arent the same as longer struts or springs. Especially the factory stuff which is soggy and light. As I said post the heights. If you have 17" wheels the front stock is 750mm rim to guard and the rear 780mm.

                      Thanks guys
ive just read a thread on the Hilux website, good reading and totally understand what you guys are talking about, I’ll have a look at the kit when it arrives, go and speak with a couple of mechanics and see where to next.

even if I fit the kit just for personal experience whilst I save the coin for a decent suspension lift.

so thanks again for the advice and I’ll update this thread as I go.

This is simply a cheap & nasty way of lifting a Prado.

well if you look on their website, I disagree with that statement, but then are you speaking from experience for the sake of speaking.

Another troll? John is right. It is a poor way to lift.

You might want to go look at Zordo's website. He lifts more cars in a month than these dodgy spacer guys would lift in a year. Wealth of experience who happens to know exactly what he is talking about.. But hey, they are trying to sell you a shitty product, their website wouldn't lie.. Best of luck with it..
