    any info would be great.

So I booked myself in yesterday and I was pretty releaved I had finally made up my mind and would have some traction this Easter. I arrived this morning to find the dealer can't get hold of the 4 Ribs for at least another month.

Now I have to think some more. :? Bugger!

Hoe much life you get out the ST MAXX?

        Hi guys,

I went to the 4X4 Show in Brissy today doing some research on some new tyres. After looking at a few brands, I have come to the conclusion that the Mickey Thompson STZ is the tyre that will best suit me.
As I have the 18" wheels on the VX, these will be the same size as the factory tyres (265/60R18) and should fit under the hard cover without any issues.
I'm just wondering if anyone can give me an update with how they have been performing and if anyone has heard of any good prices?
I was quoted $410.00 each from the MT stand, but after reading all your posts this seems a bit expensive!

        Any feedback will be appreciated.

        Cheers,

        Jeff

I've written a review of them on Amazon, I'm now up to 43,000km and have just posted 3 current photos of them there as well:

No extra noise - if anything less as the tread wears down.
I've now done 20,000km on them and there is approx 3mm tread wear, compared to the spare. Since it originally has about 12-14mm of tread, it's about 20% worn down now. (includes a Cape York trip last year)

Still a great compromise tyre for both on/off road.

Could easily get 60,000km from them...
            Rob.

At $420 a corner here in Darwin for 265/65R17LT, is there value in the premium price over say D694LT?

OK just found out D694LT is/has been phased out, nothing in Darwin.

                  Hi Jeff,

I picked up 4 x MT STZ from Fourby's at Moorooka for $360 each on 16/4/12.
I've been impressed with them so far, not overly noisy and they stick pretty well on the highway in the wet. Haven't gotten out to any tracks yet to have some fun!

                  Cheers,
                  Brett.

Have had my STZ's on now for 60000ks no issues, rotate 5 tyres every 10000ks still heaps of tread left.

Not sure if I had replied to the thread already, but I had a set, I think they are the best all round tyre!
Good all round traction. Excellent in sand. Long lasting. Very quiet. Handle well. Look good.
                        They replace the atz5rib.
Obviously the downside is price, and not the best in serious wet muddy conditions but no all terrains are!
Highly recommended, but shop your prices first!

Was googling these tyres as I'm tossing up between them and the Cooper AT3s for my 150. No surprise, the best info is on prado point!

I'm looking at getting the 265/70-17. After reading this thread locked in the STZ's.

Though, I am so tempted to bump it up to the 285s...

Old thread but not worth starting a new one.

What are people thinking of the STZ now there would be a few more using them?

Trying to decide what to fit for the 2017 GTG in the Kimberley. Had thought about just getting another set of Bridgestone D697 but have been offered a great deal on Michey Thompson STZ.

Having never used Mickey Thompson before I am interested in hearing the good/bad/ugly about the STZ.
