    StevoVX,
Whilst on a club weekend trip over easter and anzac day i looked at the few cars that had the different variants of coopers on there.
The atr's and at3 looked very similar to the Bstone D694's i was replacing and i wanted something a bit more aggressive.
Yes they are noisier than the 694's but so are my 2 boys usually in the back seats.
Have since had a few guys from the club with factory 17 inch rims also look at them.
just need to use them but was happy with how they performed on the weekend..however i think a new clutch is on the cards..bad burning smell after pulling up mount ousley in 4th and waiting in truck bay with other members not happy as only has 90,000on the clock....

      Thanks Wes,

I asked Cooper about the km warranty for the ST Maxx and they advised that they hadn't come up with one yet. Did they give you one and if you don't mind me asking were they comparable in price to the AT3's?
I will be hassling them in a couple of weeks at the Caravan and Camping show here in Brissy.

Price varied from place to place $350-$370 will do better if you push them. I'm still torn between these and M/T ATZ 4rib.
I did alot of research and alot of people commented that the 4 ribs are quite noisy.
I beleive the new AT3's and Maxx will be very good very popular tyres. I'm not a great fan of some of the older coopers but the new stuff seems on the mark so far. I'm very happy with my new Zeons.

            Hi all,

I am considering the AT3 for my 120 Series Prado. Can anyone tell me if there is a disadvantage in going to the 265/70R17 or should I stick with the 265/65R17? I am considering the extra ground clearance the 70 series will give but have been told there could be problems running a higher series tyre on the car.

Jimbob, are you able to give an indication on price for the tyres?

            Cheers,

            JD

Have a read of some of the other 120 series tyre threads, there is quite a bit of info in them re 70 series vs 65 series. To sum it up the 70 series is about 28-30mm larger than standard, the regulations only permit that you increase tyre size by a maximum of 15mm so technically speaking you will need an engineers certificate to make it legal and avoid any issues with insurance etc.

I have had the Cooper AT3 put on my Prado about 3 weeks ago by Goodyear in Everton Park, Brisbane. Awesome tyre. Not too noisy, plenty of grip. Just got another one today for the spare. Plenty of stock they told me. Price was $349 each fitted.

Has anyone got an update on the ST Maxx, considering getting these or the Mickey T ATZ 4 rib, just wondering what the Coopers are like on the car and what people have paid for them recently.

Hi justo I'm in the same boat but have now decided to go for the AT3's ($340.00/tyre) The ST Maxx reported by the tyre mob as a great tyre, I just couldn't come up with the $420 each.

                          AT3 Feedback

Just had a set of Cooper AT 3's fitted @ $339 a corner. Here are my first impressions including some off road feedback for those who might be interested.

I have used many different brands of tyres in the past including Maxxis, BFG, Bridgestone and other Coopers and found that when these Coopers went on they are a great looking tyre. Cooper have incorporated some kind of raised pattern on the wall of the tyre to give it a more aggressive, modern appearance.

On road they are nice and quiet. Road traction is excellent and they really bite in the dirt. I haven't had a chance to try them in muddy conditions yet.

The tread pattern is far more aggressive than most photos give justice and I was quite surprised at how beefy the tread block pattern is in reality. The tyre is certainly no road tyre dressed up to go off road, it is a genuine AT tyre which you can take off road with no worries. I measured the centre tread depth with some cailpers after 400km of on and off road driving and got 13mm. For comparison a brand new BFG AT gave me approx. 11mm, not much difference but there you go.

I'll be interested in how these tyres will perform when it comes to chipping etc. I know Cooper have made some changes with the compound to try and overcome this issue so we'll see how they go. Have noticed they pick up some small gravel in the lugs but hopefully they'll kick out at higher speed. Overall I rate these new tyres highly. A big step up from the old ATR.

                            Hi all,

Also in need of new rubber, and have been doing a bit of research.

As part of my research, I noted that the latest 4WD Action reviewed A/T tyres. I was quite impressed with the Cooper S/T Maxx, so I have been looking at that or the Mickey Thompson ATZ 4 rib.

They are both about the same cost ($390 for the S/T maxx from Tyrepower in Blackwood), so I think I will go with the S/T Maxx, as it was the quietest tyre reviewed. The only issue appears to be the change to a 165/70R17 (from 165/65R17). This means I may have to buy 5 however, so that the spare has the same diameter. There also appears to be a few different schools of thought on the legality of this change, but I am not too fussed about that.

I will post some pics when (if) I get them fitted.

$390 is a good price for the Coopers, I think is the list price on them is $423. Did you get a price from them for the
