Well it gets worse, I was in a local tyre shop yesterday and they quoted $435 per tyre for Cooper ST Maxx! Thats for 265/70 though - not sure if 265/65 is the same.

Whilst I would expect to be able to get this down slightly by ringing around/price matching/haggling, this was a bit above what I thought.

      Hi guys,

I tossed up getting the ST Maxx or the MT 4 Rib in 265/70/17. I ended up getting MT 4 Ribs for $350 a corner best I could get for ST Maxx was $410 a corner. I'm getting my MT's fitted on Tuesday.

In the end I went with the Mickey Thompson STZ. These are a 265/65R17, so I only needed to buy 4 and can still use the 2 tyres that had some tread left as spares (the S/T Maxx and MT 4 rib are 265/70R17).

Put the 265/70/17 ST Maxx on my Prado from new. Have done nearly 5000kms now and love them....! but so I should for the $$, you get what you pay for.
Very quiet on road, awsome in the sand and mud ruts so far.

Hi justo I'm in the same boat but have now decided to go for the AT3's ($340.00/tyre) The ST Maxx reported by the tyre mob as a great tyre, I just couldn't come up with the $420 each.
Well I got the AT3's on the other day $1700 for the 5. Look and feel great.
The missus reconds they handle well in the wet. Time will tell as they will be getting a decent work out up the Cape in two weeks.
2004 VX TD Pearl White, Sahara Bar, Rhino bars and Rack, Uniden UH015SX Radio, Cooper AT3's 265/65 R17, EFS 2" Lift kit, TJM airtec Snorkle.

I'm very happy with the AT3 so far (had them for over a month). great grip wet and dry. my only gripe is a bit noisey between 60 and 80 kmph, but just turn up the tunes. and for a light truck construction, pretty quiet overall.
Have: '03 120 GXL, 'Dune', Injected LPG, Safari Snorkel, ARB Winchbar (colourcoded cos it looks sexy), ARB Reversing Camera, Cooper AT3, Rhino 3-Bar Sportz Racks
Soon to have: AMTS Bash Plate
Want: Lift, Winch, Fat Rubber, Roof Basket, Rear Shelving, Fridge, and so much more 'stuff' but need to convince the Minister of Finance

                      Gooble,

Purchased them from Hammond 4wd Centre Capalaba. They were $360ea but because I got 5 they dropped them to $340, although I did go back a few times and procrastinate a bit.
This is the second set of Coopers I've got from them and always taken them back there for each rotation. Good to deal with.

I have just put a set of the AT3's on the front. Just returned from a 2400km round trip to Eromanga in South West Queensland, nearly all bitumen, and found them to very quiet. Also happy to recommend Hammonds at Capalaba.
