Just had mine fitted to replace the Grandtreks......on a short stint that I have used them (Tarmac and Gravel), I am amazed by the difference in feel and grip......very happy

I put 4 Pirellis on the Prado this morning. Seems to be a price drop as the best quote I could get last week (Quick Fit) was $305 balanced and old tyre taken away. This morning the price had dropped to $280. Bargain.

20ks of tarmac and they are very quiet.

          Scorpions

          Good luck with them mates

I had already 14'000KM on mine and they are fantastic , few drop as wear

Just check with you dealer about the best tyre pressure to use on them , here in Dubai they recommended 34 PSI on roads and 12 PSI on Dirt , this is lower then grandcraps because they are more rigid

Don't get worried if the are noiser at higher speeds you will still get a grip 10 times better than the Dunlope in exchange for the higher noise on high speeds

And please confirm to me hwo it feels on wet grounds once you try them , I still pinch my self over that -never seen a tyre perform like this on the wet-

Have a safe drives and Good Luck

            Mansour, Whiteman,

Are you still happy with the Scorpion ATR?
I get 5 fitted next Saturday size 265/70x17 113T, replacing the Michelin Cross Terrain's.
We will be using them on the Dutch paved roads, mud (fat clay) and Morocco rocks, gravel and sahara.

            Kind regards,

            Daan

              Cyclops

I have driven about 500k in mainly very wet weather up my way and they perform really well. The wife drives this car mostly but she wouldn't have a clue about them. They are quieter than the old and the car feels better but this could be because they are brand new tyres (the old Dunlops had 65k on them). I think they look good on the Prado if that's any help.

                Happy as

                Dear Cyclops

I have driven 14000 KM so far on them and they are excellent especially on rocks and wet

They are are suitable for sand only if the prssure is down to 12psi

On tarmac and highways they are excellent but a bit noiser than Grandtreks because of their tread pattern but breaking distance and curve handling are far better than the standard Dunlopes

We don't have snow in Dubai  nor Mud , but I wouldn't expect them to fail either on such terrains

Ask your dealer for the best recommended tyre pressure to use , the Dubai dealer specified 34PSI on tramac and 12PSI Off-Road

Whish you the Best of luck with them - and to you also Whiteman-

Thanks for the updates, will make some pictures when they have been fitted and try to find a construction area for some off-road feeling.
Not much off-road tracks left in crowded and over organised Holland.
Can't wait to take the rig to Morocco.

                  Kind regards,

Got the Pirelli's fitted last Saturday in Light Truck version and 265/70 size.

They look great, more off-road worthy 8) , and feel a lot stiffer cornering compared to the Michelin Cross Terrains they replaced.
Getting them balanced took ages and they broke a wheel bolt putting them one :x needs to be replaced next week.

                    Pirelli offers them in 265/70 113T and LT265/70 121/118S.
Can anyone explain to me what the (dis)advantages of the LT version are?

                      Hi

I got a price for these (265/65 R17 Pirelli Scorpion ATR) during the week $295 fitted, has anyone else in Melbourne priced these? The dealer offered $150 each for the brand new Grandtreks, so $145 change over each. What have others traded in their Grandtreks for??

                            Cyclops,
You have partially answered your own question re advantages with the LT version (more off road ability)
                            Advantages with the LT:-
                            • More load carrying capacity.
More resilient to side wall damage in harsh conditions.
Possible increased mileage (Generally LT tyres have a harder compound?)

                            Disadvantages:-
                            • Harsher ride.
Cornering ability not quite as good due to less side wall flex.
Not quite as good in sand due to stiffer sidewalls. (Not allowing as big a foot print)

The list could go on, but they are my main differences.
Other Members may come up with some other comments, but as a all round tyre I would say you have made a good choice

                            Cheers,
