punture or a destroyed tyre is probably more unlucky?

do we have a picture of the damaged tyre?
This could have happened to anyone regardless of tyre choice I guess. Dodgy was just unlucky, or too pre-occupied steadying the can in his hand rather paying due attention to the track ahead.

I think the tyre "punctured" when Dave opened an Asahi on the side wall

Hey MLC, you fellas had done a pretty good job of ripping it up before I even had a go. Just checked a couple of video clips & I wasn't the only one spreading sand around.

Can someone let me know the model of AT's that most of you seem to use in Aus?
At the moment I can only find Bridgestone Dueler AT's (D697) here in NZ

            Thanks in advance

                    Gents

It is fact that AJ had to rely on a Cooper ST to get him home after his tyres let him down not once, but twice. He borrowed one of my spares after I got higher up that torn up hill with my Coopers after he got a wee bit of sand in those retreads of his . It is noted that no sand made it past the reliable Coopers!

Rick, nothing wrong with the bridges, a lot of us in oz have run the 694's and r now upgrading to the 697's.

That's all we run on our Hilux/Colorado fleet. They come with the 694 from the factory but the local tyre dealers only carry the 697 around here. The 697 seems to wear a lot better on the gravel roads.

Ditto: Just today ordered a set of 697's to replace the faithful 694's, getting them fitted this coming week.
694's have done quite well, not one puncture thankfully. One rolled bead that just required reinflation back to the 16 psi we were running at the time. Would have liked the extra profile height that the BFG's offer (70 series) but, maybe next round in 80000km or so.
                          Cheers Troy

80000km - thats good motoring , was that from a set of 4 or 5 tyres in rotation?
Do you expect the same k's from the 697's?
I expect to be doing 90% highway and 10% off road (not mega serious stuff)
                            - tyre dealers advice was for me to put on 684's - (expect they will be useless off road being an HT tyre)
Not too concerned about cost - just looking for a tyre that can do both terains well, and be reasonably quiet on road

Thanks for the replies- I'm new these type of tyres
                            Cheers Rick
