Gotta love Cooper's!

Have had my ST Maxxs now for over a year and they have preformed well on wet road, clay and rock. When aired down they have awesome grip in the mud.
three weeks ago out at Lederderg state forest I took a wrong turn and ended up down a steep slippery clay track at the bottom of a valley that was a dead end and had to turn around with the prospect or now having to climb back up and having to negotiate some ledges that I initially dropped down. Had 4 dirt bikes riders offering to go back to their camp to get their truck to winch me back out cause they thought I had buckles chance of getting out. No lockers. Dropped the tyres to 18psi and up she went!
I've had BFG muddies and allterains before and I would say these sit between the two, but with much better grip on wet tar. Very happy with them so far. Good all round tyre.
PS. If you ever go down Ratcliffe track, do not follow it to the end. Turn left at no.2 firebreak track.

I only got 55k out of a set of 4 STs on the Disco but they were the passenger style not LT. Did get my share of punctures from tech screws and the like. In general happy.

For the Prado purchased a set of ST Maxx for a trip through the Simpson and the centre last year. 265/70. Did over 8k on some of the roughest roads and sharpest rocks, sharp roots and railway spikes. Unlike others in the convoy, not a problem and minimal wear for what we did. I feel they are as tough as they advertise. Did however discover superficial cracking in the rubber in concentric rings parallel to the rim on the side walls. The rep had a look and even though it was only cosmetic I now have a set of 5 new ST Maxx tyres thanks Coopers. They are expensive but have been reliable for me. Previous trips with different tyres to the centre have always had significant tyre damage. So yes I am happy.

Interesting I have that same cracking, my dealer said don't be concerned so im not. Plenty of rubber inbetween and he seems to know his stuff. I will get them to check them out again though and maybe send a photo. New tyres would be nice

I haven't done too bad with my ST's. I've done over 125,000 with them and the original Grand Craps. I would guess about 80,000 on the ST's and 45,000 on the Grand Craps. They are only now starting to wear on the edges. I think they've only got another 10,000 to go. Still not sure what to do for replacements.

I have the old ST's. Had them on my 90 series as well. One the whole they are good tyres, the current set are VERY chipped, but then again, they have seen some decent abuse on the likes of the rocks around Flinders and places like Mundaring powerlines. I did have one suffer some bad damage but suspect the deep cut would have happened to any "tire".

If I have the rig in a few years I will be replacing with the STT's.

For Christmas have reshod the 120 with cooper AT3. I have a set of ST Maxx for play but they are too noisy for general use so now the Dunlops have died had to get something for the road. Will have to see how they wear but early days and I could not be happier. Very little noise yet vey good off road too. They are no mud tyre but did extremely well during a day out in the Mountains. The tracks were mostly loose steep rocky and very deep ruts. The tyres bit in very well even when running on the very edge on the side of a rut. Others were sliding around and having to have several run ups but with the AT3s the 120 just leisurely ambled up. The tyres are more capable than the 120 even with a 50 mm lift. Yes very pleased.

Reading a lot of negative things about coopers. Seems like most people are happy with theirs, as I am with mine. Just replaced all 4 of my at3's with new at3's, I can't fault them. I had one puncture in the old set which was my own fault from silly driving.
A couple of things to keep in mind:
If someone has a bad experience they will tell 7 people on average. If they have a good experience they will only tell 1 person on average.
Another point someone made to me has stuck with me well. He said: "when you see a bush 4x4, and I mean a real bush 4x4, look at what they're running and if it's still working, that's what you should buy"

That's why we would never buy Coopers. Plenty of Toorak tractors running them - people who don't really get off the bitumen.

They are a shocking tyre, just bought my third set comprising 8 x Cooper STT
