I guys why haven't I seen a prado on 35"s?? You research about FJ cruisers on 35" with 3" lift and it's amazingly common!!! The fj is the exact same chassis a the prado! They manage to fit 35X12.5 on with 3" lift , aftermarket upper control arms to move the castor forwards, extended bump stops front and rear and they fit with a bit of trimming.
I'm going to give it a go soon. Not sure wether it's reasonable to do this though ( ill have a dedicated set of offroad muddies) so ratio changes I'm not to concerned about.
There's the 35x12.5 or there's another tyre , it's a 255/85/17 bf Goodrich make them in there km2.
The outer diameter of this tyre is a 34.7" an it's width is 10.5" . So basically it's a skinny 35" . Now I know 285/70/17 fit easy , me and my mate put a set on his hilux without 1 scrubbing issue at all!
So I'm torn between the 255/85/17 (35x10) and the (285/70/17)
The positives bout the 255, you can use your current offset rims because they Arnt wider than a 265 which is what prado comes out stock with. So with less offset, means less scrubbing on the guards /body mount and wont touch the Upper control arms. And also they are basically 35" tall, so the height and diff Clearence is awesome compared to a 285 and 265.
I want to test the limits of tyre size on prado, I think the 255 is the way of the future in prado , being the most easiest to fit. Ill keep you guys updated when I get the new muddies, or if anybody else is due for some tyres, seriously consider getting a set of these 255/85/17 test fitted on your prado to see how they fit!!
