The best balance I had was done down in Adelaide when they had only about 5000 on them, they now have around 65,000 on them. Not the quietest tyre on the road and damn lethal in the wet on tar. Many times the VSC has kicked in on wet tar due to the tyres losing grip, can be a tad scary when it happens especially in tight corners like around Horrock's Pass near Port Augusta.

I am considering opting for the 4 Rib ATZ this time but still have not made up my mind. Definitely will not be Cooper ST's though after my mates experience with his delaminating on him all within 40km of each other.
    Mav,

Take a serious look at BFG All Terrain. I have 20,000kms on mine now and they look brilliant. They have done gravel, mud, sand and tar with ease and perform brilliant on wet tar.

As usual, its all about tyre pressure and horses for courses...

    Cheers,
I will take a look at them Matt.

That's pretty good K's out of them Mav. Is that right down to the legal limit?

Out of interest I've only had mine balanced for the first time a few weeks ago (apart from the initial fit up), they were still within range/spec after 30,000 km.
I do rotate every service and look like getting k's similar to yourself. I always use City Discount Tyres at Pooraka for tyres or balancing on any of our vehicles.

Yes Mick that will be taking them down to the legal limit. I also rotate them at each service nd they are permanently on my car. My Prado has another 18 months left on its lease but I am considering paying out the lease at the end of this year and trading it in. Not sure what we will get yet, will wait and see what is on offer around that time. I have been a bit disappointed in Toyota's handling of the injector issues and not being able to get basic things like the cruise control function implemented properly. On an $80K car I do expect things to work as they should but that is just me. I have a $12K Hyundia and everything on that little car works perfectly - go figure.

4wd Tire decisions are difficult enough but geez you guys make me rethink the whole thing  I was pretty much set for the MTZ's now not sure. What I want is puncture resistance and have concerns the 4 ribs may not be that puncture resistant.

May reconsider the Goodyear MTRs again  :!:

Finally bit the dust and made a decision on some new shoes and went for the Cooper STT's. Only been on the bitumen, some wet roads and appear ok for now. Got six of the %^&*#@'s so have two spares all on GXL wheels.

and well I had the time off also cut and bolted in my false floor 8)
