Couple of things but mainly for the extra clearance. When I bought the 150 the rules up here limited the increase in tyre diameter to 15mm. 275/65 are only 14mm larger. Then the rules changed last year and I could go +50mm so 265/70 was an option. Coincidentally the camper came with 265/70 17 on P25 Dynamic steel rims albeit with the old BFG T/As.

265/70 17 is a common size and a size I could get the new KO2s.

So now the Prado, the camper and my trailer are running 265/70. I am going to get two more Dynamic rims and KO2s and these I will run on the C ute when we go bush. I will use the three old BFGs as spares.

Matt the increase will be more or less 14mm radius, 28mm overall. I don't have and tyre to compare.

Myminirocks I put these on a couple of weeks ago and it's easily a 14mm lift. Without measuring I would swear it's more than that. My bride had words about it so it's significant. The speedo now reads ~99.5 when the gps is at 100. As the tread wears it'll end up just over 100 so perfect really. You'd have to assume that's what the drivetrain is designed for. Nothing else would make sense. Also I got the spare to fit under the cover by lowering pressure to 20psi with no spacer required. I carry a compressor but could get home on 20psi anyway. PS they are meaner looking in person than on the brochure.
Edit- apologies, realised I'm in the 120 thread - spare wheel cover info may not apply.

Dingle, that is a good way of thinking about it I guess.

            • Ok, so rang around, got quoted $420-$328 F&B.

BUT I had 3 stores try very hard to talk me out of them!

They were all rubbish-ing the new KO2 saying they are a far softer compound then previously and they are finding customers only getting 40-50,000ks out of them. Also, 2 people said they are made in Thailand now, not the states.

I know they have only been out for a little while now, but anyone care to comment on their mileage?

                • We have only done 10,000km or a bit less so they still look new. My 265/70s clearly say "made in USA" on the sidewalk. Mind you it wouldn't bother me where they were made as long as the factory follows all the appropriate processes and quality standards.

                  • Yeah, one guy I just dismissed entirely because he had clearly lost the dealership for BFG and was flogging Generals (which actually don't look so bad) but by the 3rd guy, I had to start wondering if there was anything to it. Had to admit, the arguement as to why an American company, with a factory in Thailand, would ship tyre from USA to Australia rather then from Thailand, especially with the Aussie dollar currently.

Anyway, like you Michael, I don't care where they are made as long as they are as good a tyre as they should be, I'm going to get very close to 100,000k's from my last set and I'd like to get that again.

                      • I walked into two dealers yesterday. The first one, a Tyreplus store, quoted $320 each for the BFG KO2 size 265 70 17 (made in the USA). The second one, a Tyrepower store, quoted $313. No questions, no haggling at either store.

I'm in Sydney, almost worth a trip south of the border??? :-)
