Go the LT and then you can give us an update before the rest of us need new rubber.
Can't get passenger version of D694 265/65/17.
Paid $355 each for 2 of the LT versions.
Heavier, as expected.
Look the same, apart from LT markings, and tacky white lettering (which i put to the inside out of sight).
Made in Japan, not Australia.
Will report ride etc after a few k's.
Can you give us an update on these tyres.

Just yell out happy to take you for a spin around the block and chat a bit about the gear.

Looks like the tyres with 116 load rating got more thread on them as overall diameter is 12mm bigger.
Fitting the 116 rated D694LT on weekend to replace current passenger rated D694.
The cost is $265 per tyre fitted and ballanced .
Cheers,
Stan

The 265/65R17 tyre has a larger diameter not because it has a deeper tread but because it is physically bigger in diameter than a 255/65R17. The 65 number in the tyre size is a measure of the height of the sidewall in percentage terms to the width of the tyre. So a 265/65 will have a higher sidewall than a 255/65, therefore making the 265/65 have a larger diameter.
To put it into numbers, the sidewall heights are:
- 265/65 = 172.25mm
- 255/65 = 165.75mm
Therefore, the height difference is 6.5mm. Multiply that by 2 gives you the 13mm difference in tyre diameter.
I know this is for a Hilux with standard alloy rims but up at Mungerannie a fella had one fitted (not balanced as Phil dosn't have all the gear) on a 15in rim in the LT format for $220.
The 265/65R17 tyre has a larger diameter not because it has a deeper tread but because it is physically bigger in diameter than a 255/65R17
ops: Thanks for pointing it out Andrew. Didn't notice they were different sizes just copied and pasted from Bridgestone website...
I saw 265/65/R17 for both columns ops:

I see the Bridgestone website now says there is a 275/65/17 in LT construction made. If they have stock or not is entirely another thing..... 118 load rating, 790mm in OD.
How are you guys finding your tyres for grip after the halfway point in there life?????? I was all but sold on them but talking to someone at jax about them today and he was saying that he has had a couple of complaints about them losing there grip halfway though there life?????
He was steering me towards ether the bfg or pirelli's??
I do like the look of the 694's and dont think I will be going the bfg as I spend a little to much time on the road. The pirelli's seem to be a good tyre and have a good wrap but this is going to sound stupid but I like the white writing on tyres and well the pirelli's dont have it
Cheers

That is crap, this my 3rd set of bridgies, never had an issue with grip, we have two prado's in our little fleet, one did 87000 and mine did 62000 on the first set (P265/65/17), both vehicles were still legal but as we both had trips pending we changed them out for the new LT version. Rotated correctly you will get the same mileage. We brought ours from Jax at Bowen Hills.
The only issue you will have as they were they do get a little noiser as they wear, however the BFG is far worse for this and the Pirelli, well the Jury is still out on mileage on these as they are still relatively new??
You will not be unhappy with the bridgies.
My 2 cents.

Hutch,
Yes, it pays to call around, looks like Bob Jane T-marts got better prices than a Bridgestone Dealer.
Ended up costing $270 (including $5 charge for discarding of old tyre) per corner.
Did about 80K on old D694s, so can't complain.
Also looks like they don't make passenger rated D694's in 265/65/R17 size anymore...
