How much margin do dealers actually have on tyres? I always wondered how much you could knock them down from RRP.
When I worked for Goodyear, we calculated on a guaranteed gross profit margin, which was all calculated off the manufacturing cost, back in 2001, a tyre for an AU falcon for instance cost around $35 to manufacture in Australia and was sold for anything between $90 - $115 depending on how far down you had to get the price, obviously the more we could get from one customer, the more we could drop it for the next if needed.
What I presently object to is the distributor of Cooper and MT in NSW dictating the pricing that re-sellers will sell the tyre for with a threat of refusing supply to the re-seller if they get caught selling below that price. I have had 3 re-sellers tell me this in the past week and I am considering talking to Fair Trading about the problem. Big company's get prosecuted for "price fixing" on fuel and transport etc, and I see no difference when it comes to selling tyres.

Bridgestone catalogue current offering 265/65/17 D694s for $279 with a $100 rebate for any single purchase of four or more of these tyres. Offer valid till end of September.
The dealer could offer no updates on the likely timeframe for the LT D694s to arrive.
Will be using this to get the new Prado re-shod as soon as it arrives.

Hi, If you want to know how old your tyres are check the side wall, most tyres have a date stamp as (EAC 22 08) as on my Yokos not sure what the
EAC is but the 22 is the week of the year they were made & the 08 is the year they were made !! dont get caught buying cheap old rubber
as they will be crap in the wet as they get older !
I had a set fitted a couple of weeks ago at a southern Sydney Bridgestone dealer. $247.00 each less another $8.00 each for being an NRMA member.
I'm really happy with the feel of them although they are a bit noisier the the Grandcraps.

How much noisy is it? I wonder if it's some noticeble or loud?

I don't think there is much difference.

Hi.
I just got the tyre D694, it wasn't noisy as I worried, so I'm very happy. I paid $245 each including fitted & balanced.
The jax guy put 38 psi, and I wonder if it's normal pressure. I feel more vibration and road condition because I think the pressure is too high(?).
Also what pressure would you recommend for driving on gravel road (unpaved road) ?
I have found the bridgies at 36 is a good comprimise.

Guys, I noticed a Prado onsite with Bridgestones D694 (Duellers) is this the tyre your talking about. Will the 275's fit on the GXL 07 Alloys ?
How are they in comparison to BFG AT's. As these two I am still deciding on.....
Well, I needed 2 D694's 265/65/17.
Quoted $299 each
But guess what....there's none to be had.
Bridgestone HQ unable to supply, none at wholesalers.
BUT....
I can have the new 265/65/17 LT.
Only $60 a tyre more
So I'm guessing that B'stone will no longer be making / supplying 265/65/17 passenger tyres, and that's the reason for the sale price (if you can find them).
