  • Re: BRIDGESTONE D694 PRICE

Anyone pick up a set of these in Brisbane recently?

    275/65R17 or 265/65R17?

    Any problems with supply?

Any promotions on with specific dealers that I should know about?

    Cheers OGG

Just got last months statement from the lease company. 265/65/17 LTs
When the tyres were being put on the guy behind the counter couldn't give me a firm price as "That lease co" " only pay cost of tyres plus $30.00 each to fit and balance.
Total cost $984.00. For 4 tyres fitted and balanced.
One of the biggest tyre companies in the country. At least it might be an idea what they pay wholesale.

This is my first post on this forum, I have just bought a 2008 Prado GXL D4D. It has 2 brand new Bridgestone 265/65/17 dueler H/L 683 tyres on the front and 2 almost bald Dunlop AT20's on the back, The spare is a new AT20 which I assume is origional. I am intending to do a bit of off road work soon so I need to do something with the rubber, I have just finished reading a few of the posts on tyres and I am still a bit confused on which way to go. I am wondering if I should just grab a couple of 683's to save a few bucks and then get a decent set of off road tyres later ? Or dump the lot and get a set of 694's ? any help appreciated..

How much off road work, and of what type?

The D683 is a H/T pattern and is still good for mild off-road and beach driving. If this is what you intend to do, then I would buy another AT20, utilise the new spare and get decent tyres later. Tyres have a 'life' of around 6 years. They are also not worth much if you trade it in. If cash is a bit tight, just get one more AT20.

Thank's for the quick response guys, I knew I would get a few different views on this. I do a bit of sand work and will probably hit the Flinders Ranges in the near future. I did check a couple of options with tyre choice today. BJTM qouted me $1415 for a set of 4 scorpion ATR's with a possibility of trading in the new 683's for $100 each.
2 new 683's were from $699 to $783 with balance and alignment.
694's look like they are around the $330 each mark at the moment which seems a bit high ?

For sand, stick with H/T pattern. The next question is how many kms will you do in a year. The AT20s will last about 50,000km. If your mileage is high, you will probably wear them out earlier and get proper A/T tyres down the track. $100 trade in isn't much compared to you paying $300.

I wouldn't get 2 D683's. Just get 1 AT20 and use the spare. Then rotate the 4 tyres. Once they wear out, get 5 new tyres and rotate all 5. Then, when it's time to get new tyres again, change all 5. This way, you don't get stuck with a brand new tyre that might have an obsolete tread pattern, or is past its 'use by' date. You current spare is already 3 years old. If you buy 2 D683's, the spare is not going to be used for another 2-3 years. By then, the AT20 is not safe to use which equals $300 down the drain.

As for the D694 price, try ringing around and get it down to below $300.

Well I took this advice on board and bought 1 AT20 to utilize the spare, I can now spend the savings on a dual battery set up, Thanks for the help..

Sorry for dragging up an old thread but trying to find out what tyre pressures everyone is running in their D694 LT (standard prado size)? I have all the usual add on's to the prado eg. bullbar winch etc etc. Tried searching but the new site appears to have not bought over the older posts and it keeps telling me there are no tyre pressure post.
                            Thanks

                            • Hi FC
I have been pretty happy running 36psi all round in the D694,s in passenger construction.
This is about the average consensus of forum members.
However I add 2 psi to the rear when loaded and with the camper in tow.
This is highway use and should be lowered when off road for track conservation and better traction.
Keep your rotations regular and you should get a good life span from these tyres.
                              Cheers Foxclan

I have D694LTs in a 265/70/R16 size on my 90 series Prado and the tyre place said to run them at 38PSI on bitumen and 36PSI off-road. That seemed a lot to me as the owner's manual said to run my factory GrandTreks at 26PSI. The only difference is the D694s are an LT spec tyre and the Grandtreks were HTs. I still have a GrandTrek as a spare so I'm wondering if this pressure differential will be an issue should I need to use it.

In case anybody is wondering about price still, I paid $265 each fitted and balanced in March 2011.
