    Quicky & others,

Are the Mickey Thompson ATZ's legal, being 265/70/17 rather than the factory fittes 265/65/17? Also did the slightly different size effect your speedo at all?

    Thanks

    Noel

As Chuck said you will find plenty of discussion on the legal aspects on the forum. As for the speedo reading it throws it out about 3.5% to 4% ,your tyre dealer should be able to tell you the exact figure as they have a programe that can tell you this with any size tyre

As has been posted in another thread this tyre size calculator is pretty good at telling you what will occur.

They're on! $960 changeover for the 5 fitted. Dealer was very helpful and arranged the swap during pre-delivery for no extra charge.

There seems to be clearance without the cutting board mod, as the tyre joint remover the black tyre shroud thing in the lower wheel well. Should I put it back and do the cutting board thing, or just leave it as it is? I can see the wheel flexing when the door closes...

              So Michael
Any thoughts on the new ATZ's now that you've had them on for a few days? Howz the handling in different conditions (if you've had a chance to try them out on and off-road...)?

I know the feeling Matt, my GC's have 50,000 on them now and they are only showing minimal wear. If my house sells in the next 4 months I will consider just ditching the GC's and getting the MT ATZ's but without the house selling then I have to stick with the GC's.

                  Re: mickey thompson atz

I love looking at this thread. Makes me real envious. I'm in the same boat as Matty and Mav where I'm waiting for the Craps to crap out. Currently on about 23k and plenty of depth to go but they will go. I'm getting rid of these, rain hail or shine, in February or March next year. Need something descent for the GTG.

No man with pride would attend the GTG wearing a set of Craps

Sorry, haven't had much chance, and certainly no offroad, apart from a bit of gravel on our driveway... On the road, I'm surprised how quiet these tyres are. I've not really hooked into any corners or stamped the brakes, but they seem fine, and once they turn in, they seem to have a good amount of bite. Personally, I have to get used to the whole package, my other cars are low and have pin-sharp handling so I need to re-tune my yaw and pitch limits to the new car, because it rocks and bucks along the road like a runaway colt at the rodeo compared to the other options in the garage.

We're off to Broken Hill later in the month, which will be the first decent trip in the Prado, so hoping to get a bit of offroad then. Deliberately not doing much to it before the trip so we have a bit of a benchmark - probably just have some recovery gear and an air compressor.

Gave a place down in Lonsdale a call today to ask their current price. I'm after six plus a steely. I was quoted $382 a tyre plus the steely. Did offer to do a good deal on a wheel alignment.

Yeah Michael, gave them a call but no go. They only deal with MTs when dealing with a change over from one of the local Toyota dealers. They primarily sell Coopers so while speaking to the fella I asked about Coop STs and they are now $380.

I really kicking myself now. I reckon I racked up a good $10.00 over the last few days in phone calls (on the work phone) trying to get a good deal. Best I've been able to score is $365 at Bridgstone in Kidman Park. The owner, Scott, is into a bit of off road and seems pretty cool. I had spoken to him about two weeks ago and I could get them for $325  .

Now I've got thinking that if there is another one or tow interested maybe we can get a better deal. So is there anyone else in Adelaide how might be interested? I was looking at getting them early next year (between Feb and Apr) but if a deal can be struck them would get them sooner.

                                Nick,

I was in TJM Nailsworth today, they had ATZ's on display. Worth asking...

I picked up some recovery gear and booked the Prado in for the front recovery hook install...

Just need luggage net and straps, Air Compressor, and first aid kit, and we should be good.
