Just looking at the 'view size lineup details' on those tyres, and it appears they don't come in the standard 265/65/17 ...

      Hi guys

If you are in WA you can get them for between $340 and $350. Have a look at the BFG website for the WA Dealers.

I know that Welshpool Tyre Service and Tyreplus Wanneroo have them for this price....plus you get the free compresson.

      I hope this helps.

Not sure this is the best place for this post but can't find anywhere better atm. I will be putting a set of BFG AT's on the prado in the next month or so. I have had a set on my old Surf and they have done about 50 thousand Km's and I am guessing are only about half worn. I have been pretty happy with their performance in everything but mud (I also run a set of BFG MT's for that car when needed).
I am undecided between the 65 series tyre and 70 series tyre. I know about the benefits of running a larger tyre off road, particularly in sand. For those that are now running a 70 series tyre, how much power loss did you notice and what sort of increase in fuel economy. I am sure there will be some of both but it isn't increasing it in height much so not sure how much.
        Thanks
        Scott

The 70 series is what the Prado should have come with from the factory.

I also have a manual/1kz combination with 70 series tyres (Muddies at that) and would say the difference in fuel economy is minor at around half a litre per 100 increase in my case, so you could expect even less with a less aggressive treat pattern.

The loss in performance is negligible... I'd say you'd be very hard pressed to even notice.

If you are a regular off roader then it's the 70 series no questions asked...

Thanks for the reply Mick, that was the sort of info that I was after. As the prado is the family car atm, I reckon I will go the BFG AT's this time around. I would really love to mickey t's MTZ but as the family car while I still have the surf for that sort of stuff, it is the heart talking and not the mind.
            thanks again

See also my other response on this site where I have fitted the 70 series BFG to my 09 GXL. I have used calibrated police decataur mobile radar and magellan GPS to determine that the speedo is now 100% accurate from 60 - 120km/hr with these tyres. That is speedo, radar and GPS all reading the same amount simultaneously.

The 65 series results in your speedo telling you are doing 110 when in fact you are only doing 106.

That is a lot better price than I have been able to find nazray. The best I have been able to find on 265/70/17 has been $380. I understand that is a bigger tyre but the difference seems to be a lot.

Yes it is a good price, I have bought tyres for my last 2 foubies from this store I always deal with the manager there he is always very helpful, it is worth going to them to see what sort of price they can do for you. The managers is Ken Rudd.

Well, I took the plunge and had the BFG 265/65/17 fitted Saturday and to my surprise I was expecting more road noise. Great tyre in my opion so far! Just be careful if you are after the deal with the free compressor. I rang up a dealer in Rocky as none here in Gladstone were part of the deal and dearer, any way was told $333.00 per tyre discussed with wife then rang next day to see if could get better price, different person said no. So up to Rocky I go and when dropping in the keys said to the girl at the counter what do I have to do to get the compressor and she said " Oh no you have to pay full retail price $348.00 per tyre"

I was not happy and explained to her when I was inquiring to price of the tyres that I didn't even press, the first time for the best price. After awhile she finally came through but for sometime she was not going to.

                          Hi Guys

Got the 265x65x17's BFG AT's fitted last week. Paid $320 per tyre. Much better feel on the road than the Grand Treks. Only disappointing thing is that they do result in higher consumption. Was using 12l/100lm driving to and from the office each day with the Grand Treks. Am now using 13l/100lm. At around 95km per hour the consumption (on the scangauge) is about the same, but sitting at around 60 or 70km/hr I am definitely using alot more. I will have to go and check a GPS reading to see if my speed is now out because the BFG's have a lot more tread depth than the old ones and may have a greater circumference as a result. Having said that...I will not be taking them off.

Also a foot note: I have a GX with no flares and these tyres actually stick out less than the Grand Treks did. Perhaps this is because of the stiffer sidewall not ballooning out so much. Was considering getting some flares fitted but dont think I need them now.

Overall.....very happy with the purchase and the free compressor.

                            Hey Brad

Any chance of putting a couple photos up to show how much they stick out. Lookin at getting some new rubber for my GX and was gonna go 245 width MT but would be interested in seeing the BFG 265 on a GX as its another option if they aren't to bad.

                            Cheers

$310 a corner in my neck of the woods, with the compressor thrown in. I see the best price in this thread is $278 (prior to any rise I assume). I am happy with this price, the freebie compressor, supporting a local business, and fitting and balancing is included. I'm sure they will be worth it reading the reviews. The grandtreks were ready to go at 50 000 kms (not bad after three Cape trips I must say).
