I paid $345 each in Adelaide last July.. I am led to believe there have been some substantial price increases since then. From what I hear they are now around the $400 mark.

Yep, I have just ordered mine at $398 per tyre fitted and balanced. A cool $1990.00 for 5 tyres. Not sure what I will do with the never used AT20 on the back.

Or chuck it on the rack on your next outback trek with the tyre change gear. You just never know.

We did a trek around northern SA a few years back that was particularly heavy on tyres. Each vehicle had 2 spares and yet we were both down to zero when we reached Mt Dare. The service there was great, and enabled us to get back to civilisation but if we were in the middle of nowhere with a stake through a STT or MTZ. I'd take a viable AT20 any day...

Bugger! I was all keyed up to get the new MTZ's tomorrow, so I rang the Bridgestone Tyre Centre to find out if the tyres had arrived only to be told "Oh sorry but we forgot to order them." Grrrrrr! :x :x Now they will not be here till Monday or Tuesday.

I can say this of course because mine were fitted yesterday
Not as noisy as I was expecting, dry road grip is as good as grand treks. Very happy with them so far, I don't think you will be disappointed.

Been very happy with the MTZ's. Although if not really deflated they are really chewy in sand. tend to just dig holes

With a set of STT's or MTZ's you may have come home with 2 spares

                    What tyres were you running?

The wear rate on my MTZ's have slowed down a lot. Like you Mick I must have got a green set so they wore quite quickly when I first got them. Two negs now are fuel economy goes out the window a litre or 2 over my AT3's and I've found the MTZ's are scary in the wet, in particular under steer on a wet roundabout.

The guys at work keep telling me I am going to be sorry cause they are going to be really noisy and your fuel economy is going to go through the roof etc etc. Then one guy says " Mickey Thompson, never heard of them, they must be crap."  Then I brought them up on the monitor and watched their tongues fall out.

You could well be right about that, but we'll never know

The vehicles were Aboriginal Lands vehicles, I honestly have no recollection what the tyres were. One of the vehicles was the big cruiser of the day, and it did a lot of outback travel and was suitably equipped, I doubt it would have had anything other than LT Spec tyres. We did a lot of off-track visiting places seen by few europeans. Our oldest boy was about 1 y.o. and he's 20 now (no the dingos did not take him, but they had a good look. ) I've got photos somewhere, if they turn up, I'll post a thread on it.

Okay, they did not order the tyres till the 6th so they still have not arrive and probably will not be here till Thursday at the earliest. So it looks like it will be Saturday now before I get them fitted.

Went and paid for my MTZ's yesterday only to find out that they could not source them in Adelaide and they are now coming from Melbourne. Bad news is that they may not make it here this week. Good news is the guy says "You got these at a good price cause they are costing us $415 per tyre."

Thats really odd Mav. When I picked mine up at the importer/supplier in ADL (Cotton Tyres ) they had a whole "Containerload" of them in 265/70/17 as I helped pick them and put them into my trailer.

Unless they sell that well in a matter of a couple weeks!

Yeah, I reckon that they only have a couple of sources in Adelaide that they buy from. Most likely they ring around the Bridgestone Tyre Centres to see who has them in stock as they would already be on their inventory to sell before ordering more in.
