Re: Fitting 285 or 33 inch tyres
superior's initial uca was beefy using plate. only downside was that it was designed for the genuine upper ball joint. problem is, the upper ball joint also comes with the upper arm when ordered from toyota. there are aftermarket ball joints, but aftermarket never has as much travel in the ball joints as the genuine ones. so to use the original design, you would need to press out the ball joint out of the old uca, and back into the new uca. and when this balljoint flogs out, you will need to get a gen toy one, with the whole uca arm, which you already have 2 spare of.
they have new arms in development, much along the lines of the ones for the lux by wizard. i don't like the pillow ball upper design, as it collects mud and rocks etc and flogs the socket out. if they made a rubber boot to enclose the pivot, it would prolly work better. there's a lot of mud up here in the wet.
i've suggested that they should look into the ones from the states, i think they are the light racing ones. which you should be able to get through a 'good' pedders store. i have been liasing with the manufacturers of this uca, which have the adjustabe upper balljoint for castor and camber, to buy direct from them. aus is just so far behind the rest of the world.
