Geez Golly (or should it be. Golly ....Golly)

I have the Yoko Geolandars on our Prado and we have 27,000klms on them and I'd be lucky to have half the tread left! It's funny, they seemed to be wearing well up until about 2 months ago, we have put 5000klms on them in 2 months but they have all of a sudden started to really show the wear. I'd be happy to get 50ks the way they are going!

Hey guys, my GO12's have 30,000k's on them and have 9mm tread left. Most of my driving is dirt @ 30 psi, so I'm not sure if this has much impact on how they wear. At the last rotation in October there was 12mm left, so I have travelled 7,000k's and worn away 3mm. Crudely speaking, if I've got 6mm tread left, does that give me roughly 14,000 more k's? Realistically probably less, which puts me in the same boat as myminirocks.
Don't get me wrong, it is a great tyre onroad (wet and dry) and awesome on sand and chews up the roads out here without fuss. I am definitely happy with their value for money.
At $280 each, if I get 54,000k's which would be just shy of 3 years, is that enough time for a tyre to be on a car anyway?
        Cheers
        John

John has a 90 series, so 16" rims. Probably why they are so much cheaper.

            Cheers Andrew

Yep I have 16's, thanks for pointing that out AJ and at $80 a corner difference, is that a good reason to keep the 90? In one word, no

Yeah I can't get over how quickly mine went from looking good to chopping out to nothing, I'm thinking I'll be lucky to get another 10,000k's if that. Looking at BFG's next....

125k now and still going strong, so up to about 100k on my tyres now.

That's nice mileage in anyone's language
So far i've done 44,000k's and have 6mm left. As i said earlier, i'm unsure what impact my style of driving has on their wear. I certainly can't see getting 100k out of mine.
More than likely i will put Geolanders on the next car, and the driving will then be more bitumen than dirt (unfortunately)

                    Cheers

I would say, with shame of course that 90% has been bitumen hahah... hence the good wear, so for a road going tyre, great choice and very quiet road noise.

Hi Golly. Can I ask why you are going to give up on the Yoko tyres? I am getting the GO12 fitted tomorrow for $275 each x 5. I was looking at the BFG AT and Rugged terrain but decided on the GO12. Also looked at the bridgestone D697. Apparently a lot of road noise after a few thousand KMs. I have read also the BFG aren't to good in wet road conditions. This is the family 120 so I need safety in wet conditions ya know.

It will be good to hear your feed back on the AT2's when you get them.
                          Cheers mate.

Well today was a good day. I got the Yokohama Geolandar ATS GO12 275/65/17 tyres fitted (Tyres & More Geebung Brisbane). I did about 70kms on them to and from work. What a difference they have made to the comfort factor of driving on the black top. I haven't checked out there performance off road. They fit fine under the car and the spare just fits on the back door, no hard cover on my GXL. The rear windscreen wiper rests on the spare tyre, but doesn't interfere with it's movement. Can't wait to get them on the beach. Pics will be coming tomorrow in the day light.
