  • Bridgestone Dueller AT 697

    Hi Guys
I am just about to do the dreaded tyre change...currently have Cooper AT3 that were only. Prado 2006 GXL V6 petrol stock alloy rims. Thinking of either Dueller AT 697s or dunlop Grandrek At20 or Cooper SRX.

Anyone got experieexperience with either of these.
otherwise can you suggest an alternative ... I do 95% on road driving in Tassie, tow a boat and small van max 1.2t. Looking for good handling as my wife drove 5 days a week.
    Thanks
    GLD

80, 000 km out of last set of Dueler AT's,, Grand craps lasted 40k Km's.
Secret is don't follow the toyota tyre placard and run the tyres at 38 to 40 psi .
    On Duelers again.

Duelers in LT lasted long however they went hard early in their life. Tread blocks chipped and the tyres were rock hard with the minimum pressure required to take the weight of the car. If you buy the non-LT version, they me be a bit softer.

      BFG KO2's rode better.

        Hi Sparksy
How would you compare the road manners especially in the wet on road with the Dueler to Grandtreks...want to have good handling tyre 5his time.

Having run multiple sets of BFGs I think time has passed them by. I run the Cooper AT3LT and will replace with the same. They are quieter than the original Grand Craps and better in all conditions. Mine are at 53000km and still have 8mm of tread all round and no chips, chunking or splits like BFGs have developed at the same km. They have been on some of the worst roads in inland Aust. with no issues. Can't comment on the Bridgestones.

The duellers handle well, it was over 12 years ago that I replaced the grandtreks so cant honestly remember but remember they were useless in sand.
One thing I have noticed, fitted a ARB 2" lift 6 months ago and the old 120 handles really well now. Only thing with duellers is that they seem to like carrying around 10kg of rocks in the tread.

My last set was 697s. They were OK. They started squealing going around a roundabout after being half worn.

I'm on Nitto Terra Grappler G2 now and they hang on really well in the wet and no rocks stuck in the tread. Will see how they go after they are worn down.
