I feel that a black bar on the white car is really a good option. It interferes least with the 150 curves. I can't understand why neither of the main manufactorers Tjm/Arb do not produce bars that look more harmoniously.

Went for TJM over ARB because of looks and compatibility with Tjm's scrub bars and side rails.
I like the black on white look, what do you guys think?

ARB Side Bars?
Did you take this pic or is this an ARB advertisement? I have asked about sidebars for my 150 and apparently TJM and powerful4x4 are the only ones making them. From one source I have heard that ARB are not even looking at them yet, from the web I have found an ARB editorial which states they are currently being worked on and that was in Autumn 2010.Originally posted by KAKADAZ View PostARB Deluxe..

If it is yours, is it genuine or was the sticker added later?
Thanks
Tim

I have had the ARB sidebars since 2010. What they did not make was sidebars that integrate into sidesteps like what is now available from TJM.Originally posted by tegan View PostDid you take this pic or is this an ARB advertisement? Has anyone got photo's/pictures of the TJM scrub bars that are integrated to the side steps? I have seen the steps, but not the scrub bars.
After nearly 2 years of the 150 being available, I don't understand why ARB still say their side steps are "under development". Surely it doesn't take that long, it seems to me they were put in the too-hard-basket and will probably never come...

I have seen one - not a mark!! They really are a decent bit of gear. I was talking to a few bush coppers at the Harts Range races a week or so back (NT Police) and all their Hilux paddy wagons have smart bars. The general consensus is that they're awesome. To quote one of the cops "they're like shanghai's, the roo's just bounce off". He was saying one of his mates who works up in Arnhem land hit a buffalo not so long ago with one and the Hilux came out much better than expected.Originally posted by Talktheroo View PostI like to see a photo of the smart bar after hitting a big red kangaroo, just to see what the impact does and whether or not they really are a smart arse bar.
The Roo.

I think they would be 100% practical and well...smart, BUT I just dont like the look of them. If I did alot of country driving I would put function ahead of looks for sure but if I didn't NEED one as such I wouldn't have one.Originally posted by Dakkas View PostI have seen one - not a mark!! They are good at stopping roos, but for many of us that us just not enough. Front ground clearance and mounting of winches are a couple of areas where they just don’t help (IMO). I suppose it depends on your needs. If you are staying on the road and doing a lot of outback miles they would be a good product to consider.Originally posted by Dakkas View PostI have seen one - not a mark!! not sure I agree completely, how do they not help with winches?
You can fit a winch to a smartbar, there is a winch option available for the Prado.
When it comes to front ground clearance, you really need to check all bars, many will actually make it worse. ARB are a known offender in this area.stepped up the a 200 LC for towing,
but had a 2012 and 2010 150 Prado GXL auto diesel in Graphite with Bridgestone D697 A/T. Dobinson C59-300/325 and Bilsteins. Accessories : two baby seats. Sidewinder`s Dual Battery isolator and rear power outlet kit. Pirana Battery tray, Hayman Reese towbar with Toyota wiring kit and Brains`s guard.
