I've got the same as Kim. Well made, fits in between twin wheel carrier. Had 4 mountain bikes on solid as we use bits of pool noodle to protect the frames of the bikes (the joys of carbon)

We use the rhino rack bike rack which fits into the square hitch hole (bought from ARB years ago)
, it also folds down to access door very well made and not flimsy like someLive One Day at a Time for Tomorrow May Never Come

Cheers for that Maxjj,Originally posted by maxjj View PostI have got a jetblack carrier, which is easy to use and holds the bikes nicely and stable.
http://jetblackcycling.com/categorie...nalCat/jetrack
When I use it I put on the hitch for the caravan to clear the spare tyre, its a bit longer as its a weight distribution hitch.
I also have a pacific 4 bike rack with the boomerang base to get past the spare wheel. I can use that with the normal hitch.

I prefer using the jet black one as it doesn`t need to top tether rope, its nice and stable just by tightening it onto the towball.
Suggest you go to a local bike shop and try a couple.
I've ended up going with the Pacific 4 bike rack with the boomerang base ($165 at local bike shop). I had a bit of a look around and the sky's the limit in terms of pricing (One guy tried to sell me a $500 Thule swing arm thing that looked like it came off the back of the Space Shuttle)

i have the NSR 6 rack from North Shore Racks. It take up to 6 mountain bikes and is bloody brilliant! Its expensive though as you have to order from Canada (approx 1k) but it will last for years and is very well built. Its also good as the Prado has 7 seats...six riders, six bikes and a spouse paid off to be a shuttle driver ha ha! Link below

Ok the problem with the 150 series (and the 200 series)....so you have an expensive bike rack...you will want to be able to lock it to the hitch...now the later model tow bars have more reinforcement around the hitch which means 99% (i haven't found one yet) of lockable anti slop pins will be slightly too short. I got around this by getting the guys at GRIPSPORT to lathe off about 5mm from the protruding end of the pin and now it works fine.2013 (12 build) GX Auto.......with safari snorkel, toyota bar, tow bar, roof racks, led spots with fancy newpro switchgear, uniden remote UHF and aerial, ARB bash plates, Roadsafe recovery points, digoptions radio, general grabber AT2s, cheap ebay roof rack that has stood up surprisingly well.....

How about one of these wheel mounted carriers for 2 bikes?
http://www.torpedo7.com.au/products/...wd-2-bike-rack
Apart from having to remove the hard cover from the spare is there any disadvantage over a towball mounted rack? About the only one I can think off is the weight on the door. One advantage is the bikes move with the door so you don't have to remove the bikes or lay them flat to get in the boot.

before having a look at anything that mounts to the rear wheel check the threads on cracked doors on 120's........i cant see that they changed that much with the 150 apart from adding a dampener....not worth it IMO2013 (12 build) GX Auto.......with safari snorkel, toyota bar, tow bar, roof racks, led spots with fancy newpro switchgear, uniden remote UHF and aerial, ARB bash plates, Roadsafe recovery points, digoptions radio, general grabber AT2s, cheap ebay roof rack that has stood up surprisingly well.....

Is this an issue with 90 series as well? Or just 120 series onwards? Thinking about getting one that mounts on the spare wheel but won't if it's gonna stress the door too much.Originally posted by retroenduro View Postbefore having a look at anything that mounts to the rear wheel check the threads on cracked doors on 120's........i cant see that they changed that much with the 150 apart from adding a dampener....not worth it IMOToyota Prado GXL Kimberly - 95 Series - 3.4L V6

To be honest you can notice the door sagg a bit with the bikes on if you open the door, however it returns to normal once they are removed. I'm in the process of pricing up a rear bar from aj so the weight won't be on the door for much longer if I can help it

Does anyone know if the Thule 934PRO Hitching Post 4 Bike fits the 2010 Prado? Guess its a 150. I'm told this Thule has about 25cm between the upright bar and the back of a Nissan Xtrail.

Thanks!

As a guide, the width of the spare on the Prado is 265mm. You then have to check the location of the hitch pin and compare the Prado and the Xtrail. Maybe get a length of timber and prop it against the spare and measure to the hitch pin. Then check with Thule or the local roof rack store what the bike rack's dimension is. Edit: the website says 35cm from the hole to the upright.
