  • Thule Hullavator Kayak Loader - Anyone have one on 150?

Has anyone fitted one of these to the 150 yet?

The 150 is so high I can't manoeuvre the 16ft kojak up there.
    Hullavators seem best option.
Can they go on Rola aero bars or will the Thule aeros be needed - naturally their website says thules are needed.
Also, is the extended bar needed or can you get away with standard length?

Does the hullivator miss the sides of the vehicle?

    Any help appreciated,

    ciao

    Great option.
Seen one on top of a lifted hilux. On Thule aero bars. Misses the sides of the vehicle easily.
    Bloody expensive though!

G'day, we have 2 x hullivators on the roof of our ZR Prado and they are fabulous. We are travelling at the moment towing our van and the kayaks have been used many times. We are in our late 50's and we reckon the hullivators will allow us to paddle for another 20 years. We have an extended roof rail and the kayaks are no where near the car when lowered. My advice - buy them as they are brilliant.

I came across a StrongArm Kayak Loader a while back. Not sure if it is still for sale or not.

Thanks for the replies ppl, much appreciated.

The side access and ability to strap down at waist/chest height is the defining advantage of the Hullavator, IMHO.
Also, being able to use while towing, gives it the gong over the Strongarm (which appears to be overpriced).

The search for the best deal begins......

How much is the Hullavator? Could probably DIY the Strongarm.

Didn't know that Rhino rack has a version of the strong arm as well

OK Wandy - it's on your head!!! :-)

I went and bought them over at ARB Coopers Plains - they were only $25 odd dearer than the best online price I could find.
Nigel down there showed me how it worked with his showroom demo model. He showed me the extended bars set-up on their 150 Prado in the yard.

I don't mind paying the extra when you get that service.

Enjoy. You will never regret the purchase. We have been travelling a while now and the hullivators are always counted on by others and I am always giving demonstrations.

Thanks, got your PM. Does make the Strongarm look expensive. If I had a kayak, I can't use the hullavator as the awning is on one side and Maxtrax/shovel on the other side. Might need a shorter version of the Strongarm fixed to the center of the spare tyre carrier. Towball can still be used for towing.
