I don't know but will ask about it tomorrow when the Prado goes in for it's 30k service... Might even ask them to remove the rails too if they have time during the allotted time given for the service.
If it's similar to the 100's install, then I think I'll be doing something similar to what u mentioned & what I did with the 100's

ROOFRACKS - What are 150 owners using???

That's interesting Rob.
I will be doing something similar when my 150 arrives.
My experience with this on the 120 was that I used SikaFlex around the bolt replacements to prevent water ingress through the bolt-holes. For extra precaution, I used plumbers tape on the bolt threads.
Though what's all this about a membrane? On the 120, they just used rubber washers on the bolts to form the waterproof seal.

Guys.....
Just been down to the local TJM store, enquiring about roofracks for the Prado. The salesman after speaking with Rhino Systems suggested getting Toyota to remove the original roofbars & install the necessary waterproofing membrane to prevent leaking. Then I can simply buy the Rhino H/D Bars & Feet. This way went the bars are not in use, I can simply remove the bars leaving the base to what the feet screw to.(similar to the 100's system). This system will hopefully give me greater flexibility buy just using the bars when req''d or the bars and full length rack that I've got stored in the shed..... The reason the salesman suggested getting Toyota to remove them is that they have to install the waterproof membrane/washers to make it water proof. If I did it myself, I wouldn't have that membrane and I don't think anything comes with the Rhino kit to prevent the roof from leaking..... Has anyone had experience in this or knows whether this is true or not?Last edited by rob_macca67; 18-01-2012, 12:53 PM.

Is it a one man job to install / remove or 2?
Is it the type where u can just remove the basket and leave the bars or do u have to remove the whole thing?

Whisbar prado
We picked up a Whisbar set today and am impressed so far. Yes from Ebay $275 PU.Originally posted by sbclover View PostBest price I have found on the s45 whispbar is OZ Nest on ebay $275+post

But here's the thing. The website :http://www.whispbar.com.au/findmycar indicates the right bars for a 2011 VX is an S45 bar. Wrong.
I insisted on fitting the bars at the Greenacre factory, See Ebay, Item no 110428706197 And strongly recommend anyone, whatever model you are buying do the same. Climb up and look at how well the bars fit, use commonsense at the buy point.
The S45 fitted the rearbar only. The forward bar is different, its wider! The S45 housings grabbed only 12mm of bar each side!
Im very pleased to say the Ebay seller was very helpful and fitted a wider forward bar from a different set, no extra cost.
He is very professional and fitted a set keyed alike. Recommend him but try on site.
I am also impressed how well the rhino pod fits, its actually better than on the rhino racks from our previous vehicle.
The Whisbar feels right.
WE don't want to raise our C/Gravity too much, its just for lighter things like bedding and bulky clothes.
The pod is light and weather proof.
Viva the Prado!

They look pretty good, but a little too small.... I'd like something that utilises more the available roof area.
Originally posted by adamr7 View PostRhino Pioneer, they are light weight, low profile and dont whistle in the wind. Had a Rhino roof basket on the 120 Series as well and was very happy. Highly recommended. Also compatible with The Foxwing Awning, and heaps of accessories and attachments are available to suit.

ScottOriginally posted by Scott Montgomery View Posthey i fitted the Wind Cheeter bar from Opposite lock, fitted some eye hooks to strap thing down to and fitted the GENR8 Vision X solo work lights at the back.
very low profile for less wind resistance and having open ends all around means kayaks and boards can hang over the edge a little.
I am going to transplant my Windcheeta rack from my 120 to the new 150 when it arrives. Mine is the 2m rack. What size is yours and what height legs did u use to fit it ?
Cheers,
Matt
