  • self fitting a Winch

    Hi everyone,

I'm sure there is a thread link for this but couldn't readily see it so if someone could post it here it would be appreciated.....

But if not, has anyone fitted a Warn winch (really any winch) to their 150 themselves?

I have picked up a XD 9000 and want to fit it myself. Though after reading about chassis cracks........ bit late now!!

    Cheers

Yes, I've fitted an Avenger Mako 9.5 to my ARB Deluxe bar myself. The process was simple enough and can be done with the bar still on the vehicle. You will need to rotate the gear box 90 degrees but that is easy on most winches. Another pair of hands will also make it easier when lining up the bolts.

Wiring is straight forward and the included wires had just enough length for the job.

Same here, turned the control box 90 deg, dropped the plate off ARB bar and the winch fitted through the gap.

If you are worried about the cracked chassis, i'll give you a bad price for it i could do with an upgrade.

Sames as above... Rotate the gearbox! I did mess up and have the rope spooling off of the wrong site of the drum though and it was only as I held it in place I realised. I had to pull it out again and do the rotation thing another 180degs. It is a fairly heavy job and two pairs of hand would have made the lining up a bit easier.

Thanks everyone. I also have the ARB deluxe so I'm glad i don't have to remove the bar to fit it. MY local ARB rep wanted $350 to fit the winch I felt that was a bit rich!!

Thanks alternative for the offer but I think I'll take the risk lol.

I've got a mate whos going to help me fit it so thanks all for the tips it sounds like a fairly painless process,

          Cheers
