This is how the conversation will go. For those that do not know Mrs sapradogxl, please imagine a strong willed, strong scottish accented lass that while shorter and much better looking than both Dave and I, would scare the begeesus out of a hells angels sergeant at arms when fired up. Kind of an Angel that converts to killing machine in a nano second.

    He ya go Dave.

Dave: Darling, mlc ran some performance figures on his 120 diesel last weekend.
Mrs: Oh really, what do you want now Dave?
Dave: Huh? anyway, its seems that despite the fact he has the 3 inch exhaust and the chip, the single best modification he has made is his snorkel! It not only improves the performance of a diesel, it also saves fuel! Pretty impressive for something that is a cheap insurance plan if he ever needs to cross water.
The killer punch though is Mrs mlc suggested it because she reckoned it looked tuff and didn't want to be the only diesel owner without one. You can imagine mlc's reaction when he was initially against one. Anyway, I'm not sure whether to get one or not, ARB did say they can do it as part of the fitout very cheap, only $x which is like a $2,000 saving on the normal price...
Mrs: I think we should, especially given the benefits and we don't want to be the only diesel without one.

I will go brief Mrs mlc and remind her of her great suggestion. (which is crap but women cant resist having something over a man, you owe me...)

You could say she can use it as a hair drier if you put it in reverse.
Might need a milk crate to stand on but.
      Hope your couch is comfy.

I picked up the box with AMTS Bash plates on Friday and had the box sitting in the garage all weekend.... the better half waited until sunday arvo to ask what was in the box so i told her..... I said I needed them lol..... she said you love that car more than me.... I didn't answer back

I'd love to use pictures like that but can already hear the *in nagging high pitched voice* conversation going something like "NO WAY IN HELL YOU ARE TAKING A 60K CAR ACROSS A RIVER LIKE THAT"...

I think i'll just go with Kakadaz's advice, now that I think about it, the couch is pretty comfortable!

Great suggestions here guys but the 1st rule of going behind the wife's back is to make sure you don't leave your PP open!!

As I have said to Dave he can work his way towards his wish list when I get mine

              I'm sooooooooo gonna kill him!!!!!!!!!!!!

Matty, sapradogxl has broken the most important unwritten rule and MUST be bought before the political party senate for a royal commission enquiry. Imagine leaving such a thread open and accessible to SWMBO, especially after seeking such sensitive and confidential advice.

I now have to do penance to Lea AND Lorna, strewth!! They BOTH scare me.

Waning: any smart arse making a comment re the scared bit WILL meet both of them at the GTG and WILL be described as a known male chauvinist. You have been warned! They hang better between your legs, rather than on a plaque!!!!!

I learned this a few years ago when I wanted to trade my very fast road motorbike in for an even faster off-road version...
I decided that a completely new approach was needed, because there was no way my (awfully logical and budget-conscious) wife was going to allow that to happen. So I came home one day and told her that I needed a new car. Yes a new car. One that was safer for the kids, more economical and so that I could park on the 4th floor of the car park with some dignity - amongst the directors of the company.
The overall cost of the new car would have been around $10,00 additional cost. You can imagine her reaction!
I let her stew on that for about a week and then slowly started to retreat. "OK, maybe I'll wait another year" and " what if I get my commission cheque?" were common conversations. About a week after I had started to back off the new car conversation I called her from the Honda dealership…
“Honey, I was driving past Honda today and I noticed that they are having a stocktake sale. They will give me $4,000 for my ‘bike and get me onto an off-road 450 for an additional $1,500”
“YOU WANT A NEW CAR AND A NEW ‘BIKE?!?!?”
“No, no, honey – I thought about it and the car is just good money after bad. At least this will be heaps safer than the road bike and we’ll save some cash.”
“I suppose we would save cash, but you don’t really need another bike.”
“Well, I’d rather have an off-road because it’s safer, but I will save $1,000 if I sign today.”
Anyway, she still thinks that we saved about $8,000 and I had an off-road bike for a few years
The point is that you should build your wish list – all of it. Suspension, lights, drawers, lockers, satellite TV and the kitchen sink – all of it. Then tell her you need at least half of the stuff for an upcoming trip. Then “settle” for the snorkel… Framing.

Dave the current and past ministers of the 4WDriving First Party are now putting you on notice of a explanation of your poor security measures on Pradopoint. This will happen at the GTG 2012 where a decision will be made by the caucus.

                    Some hints are as follows
                    1. As to the snorkel please feel free to use my methodology, let SWMBO take the car to work, turn up later and take it to ARB ( I need new ARB bash plates) then return it before she finishes work, can't be taken off with a 90mm hole in the guard.
                    2. Mention the fact that you would be the point of ridicule by the Queenslanders at the GTG without a snorkel.
                    3. Finally many bribes are required to be provided to the caucus to recover your position in the 4WDriving First Party.

I trust this helps you with your future plans and prepares you for the 2012 GTG.

See ya on the tracks, Richo.

I have always found that if I talk about it for long enough SWMBO generally agrees to make it go away, has a multitude of applications really.
That said she is still regretting saying that the price of my Ducati was quite good, unfortunately after I bought it she told me that this did not mean she agreed to the purchase, fortunately it is the most comfortable bike we have owned.
That said I had the snorkel included in the lease and it was fitted when we picked it up.
                          Kev,

2010 Silver 5dr GXL, Auto, diesel, ARB Deluxe bar, ARB bash plates, lightforce 170's, safari snorkel, towbar, dual batteries, air bags, trans cooler, Kings/Koni's, ARB rack, Cooper S/T Maxx's, Rock Tamers, Beaudesert 2.75" exhaust and more to come.
