Parkinson or Browns Plains Richo? Is it up on the hill near making mattresses off Mt Lindsay Hwy?

          Hi everyone,

Apologies for digging up an old thread, but this appears to be the most recent thread for cargo barriers. I'm off to Caddy/Ausgard tomorrow in Brisbane to get the barrier installed for my 150. The barrier is $460 supply and fitting is $110.

I'll try to put up some photos once it is in as there aren't any on their website and I couldn't see any here.

I'm glad you resurrected the thread. Saves me starting one
Does anyone know of any flexible cargo nets/kits for the Prado? As I frequently use the third row seats I need more flexibility than a fixed barrier.

That's a great question, I didn't even think of that. Oh well, I'm booked in tomorrow and I don't know that I would trust any net to stop something with some heft flying forward into the passenger compartment...

Opposite Lock sells a generic barrier net from Boab, which looks good but I couldn't get it to fit the Prado due to location of the grab handles and no other places to attach to.

Bad news. The barrier that Caddy stock is only appropriate for GX models or for those who have taken their rear seats out. They can cut the barrier down, but this means you lose the safety rating and more importantly it means they have to cut into the plastic of the boot in order to install it, as the mounting points used for the normal barrier are lower.

Needless to say, I wasn't impressed after driving over the other side of town for an early morning install. Thankfully the installer was on the ball and test fitted before cutting anything.

So, no cargo barrier for me. I'm thinking a Rhino roof box costs about the same and I can fit more in it than the extra I would be able to with the cargo barrier.

I went with Autosafe 'cause they will custom make the height of your barrier to suit. As I got an ORS DIY drawer kit which have many different heights, lenghts and widths; a standard cargo barrier or half height barrier would not fit. Just measure from top of drawers to roof height and its made for you for the same price as a standard full height barrier. $517 without fitting. Easy to install yourself as you just have to take out the grab handles in the roof and use the holes there and then drill holes in the drawer top and bolt in the bottom tabs (which are nice and small).
