  • ARB Bullbar light smashed

The round light on my ARB Bullbar has been smashed - maybe by a rock. I could go to ARB tomorrow and get it replaced but first I'd like to check a couple of things with you experts:

The light looks to have flimsy cheap glass. Is there a better housing to use rather than ARB's?

Is it easy to replace? I assume I'll have to remove the bash plate to get to it.

I looked around for an LED replacement and couldn't find anything that would easily fit, so I just replaced them with the ARB lights. Yes, you will need to remove the wings under the bar to access the lights. I also siliconed up the rubber grommet at the rear of the globe as it leaked water into the lens after a small water crossing.

Do you use the fog lights? I don't so I am replacing them with LED daytime running lights from Narva.

Exactly what I'm considering - and I don't even have the bull bar yet! Let us know how it goes - do you know if they would fit ok?

Why would you have them turned on when in the bush?

This is the Narva DRL (71940) I am planning to fit. Just need to work out how to fab up a bracket for it as it is 90mm whereas my IPF fogs are 110mm.

D4D did you find any pics of the Narva light lit up? Looks like a good idea. The 71930 has different mounts which may be better for you.

No I haven't found any lit up shots although most newer trucks use them so I have an idea what they look like. The existing IPF fog lights have a 4 screw mount like the 79140 so it shouldn't be too hard to retrofit.

Thanks for the info guys. I went to ARB and they are quoting around $40 for a replacement light but none in stock for a couple of weeks.

Those Narva DRLs look the good but I'm definitely not a fan of the $270 price tag.

I am thinking of doing what steelbalz has done here, mount Rigid Dually's instead (the price is about the same). Just not sure how to do it yet as I have not purchased the lights.

I contacted Narva for a pic of them lit up but they don't have anything! Bizarre or what? I will delve into the bowels this weekend and look at what the existing bracket looks like. The hole in the bar/fogs is 100mm more or less so there would be a 5mm gap around the outside. Also not sure how they will line up given the angle on the bar. Seems to be a few options but all about the same size. The ADR on DRLs for what it is worth says:

Must be fitted as a pair
At least 600mm centre to centre and not more than 510mm from the side of the vehicle (doesn't include mirrors)
White or yellow light visible from the front
                              Maximum of 25W total
Wired so they are off when any headlight (low or high beam) is on

The other option which I was thinking of was a decent 100mm driving lamp to light up the edges of the road in da bush! Again a few of these around including HID and LED variants.
