Not sure the size, but I think from memory that only one size comes with the backbone. $1090 is a great price.

Should be just the 21xx size with the Backbone (for now).

Hello All.. whilst everyone is ere... I am getting a Pioneer platform this week.. and was wondering if anyone is using the side rails or front rails for it when offroading.. I was thinking of getting a set as I am used to my cage that I had, but am not sure it it will be worth the money.. thoughts?

I have done without front or side rails. I just used eyebolts and tie everything down.

X2 Everything can be tied down without the need for the side rails, Plus there are plenty of accessories for gas bottles, jerries and the like. If it's tied down properly, it shouldn't go anywhere...

With the backbone system does the tray sit lower than it would if mounted on feet?

If so I might have some feet for sale, need as much room as I can get with our garage

Yeah. I think you save about 40mm. I wanted my car to be under 2m with my 2" lift which is why I went with the backbone.

                    • I'm about to get the 1928x12xx installed tomorrow with the 6 feet. Has anyone with the platform on the feet, taken it on and off and how much trouble is that and what does it look like with just the feet.

                      • It's only 6 M6 bolts, so very easy to remove. You can replace the security screws with normal hex heads and then use a ratchet spanner for even faster removal.

Once the legs comes off, you are left with the feet attached to the roof. The kit might come with the cover, but if not, it is called MOUNTING PAD COVER, M126.

                          • Any bike on a rack is a risk on corrugations . Always use a bit extra to secure it.... occy strap etc. The bike/s tend to exert a lot of leverage and to move/break things [ like the rack itself], especially on corrugations. Just watch how they move if you follow someone with a rack. Also, if you cross the border and don't have your number plate or a bike plate hanging off the back the NSW cops are savage at raising revenue on this minor issue.

                            • Hi Guys,

Looking for a bit of advice here. I'm looking at the Rhino Racks, 1928x1236 flat Pioneer Rack, as everyone seems to be suggesting. I would prefer to take off the existing rails, and mount the RLCP Legs to the roof. I'm getting a bit of conflicting information, and I need to sort this out quickly and get the ordr in so that I can fit it next week.

There seems to be two different models of flat tray in that size, and apart from the SX moniker, I can't see a difference to either. On the Rhino Rack website they seem to be described identically.
42102B - Pioneer Platform (haven't seen this mentioned here)
44102B - Pioneer SX Platform (mentioned everywhere here)
The best price I have found for the 44102B locally at Autopro for $713 supplied, although Rileyparts over east have it listed as $688 online, I think with free pickup from the depot here in Perth. I'll probably just get it locally as it's only 5 km from my house, rather than 30km each way, not worth the time and extra $25. :P

The legs, I seem to have found need to be RCLP23 x6 priced locally at Autopro for $308.

My problem is the Autopro saleslady was certain the legs require crossbars that the rack itself mounts to. I was under the impression the crossbars weren't required.

The Oppositelock salesman I spoke to said the opposite, that no crossbeams were required, but that I needed to get the 42102B rack with the RCLP23 legs for them to fit, and that would do the job.

I've read through all the posts here, and still can't work out exactly what I need. I see the conversation bouncing between people's preferences of size, bars or not, mounting it to the rails or not, but nothing that directly answers my questions. I haven't been able to contact a sales rep, and the local stores don't seem to really know any more than me over the phone.

                              Please help!

                              • Forget about the SX as it is not suitable for fitment when you remove the factory rails.

To fit onto yours, go to Toyota and buy the 3 bar HD / commercial roofrack set. It is cheaper than the RLCP23 legs for the 120 or similar in price for the 150 but the bonus is you will get 3 HD crossbars which you can sell or just keep.

Then you get the 42102 Platform. It comes with 5 crossbars, 3 of which is mounted to the legs.
