I finally, after a LOT of research and talking with a lot of peeps went to TJM the guys who told me about a 42107 - 2.2 X 1.296 (cane with a roof kit and I cannot remember the number) they removed my rails and fitted it to the roof... VERY pleased with the job as I can fit my RTT and spare etc. when needed - Just another option

Is there anyone on here that has fitted a rooftop tent onto these Rhino platforms? Any photos too?
Is there enough room to fit a 1400mm roof tent and a spare tyre on the 19xxmm platform?
Cheers,
Ken

Use this mount http://www.rhinorack.com.au/products...el-holder_rswh
If you use this strap, then the spare wheel can't overhang the platform

After reading through a few of these roof platform threads I purchased the #42107B platform with mounting legs(Rhino combo part #JA5679). Its the 2128mm x 1236 wide. I went with the longest recommended platform for the Prado to one day fit a rooftop tent and still allow enough length for an extra spare. Fitted it easily at home with just a mate helping me to lift it into position.
Wind noise at freeway speeds are slightly noticeable but I dont find it an issue for a diesel 4WD.

is there much difference with the wind noise/ resistance between the 2 types of platforms?
flat platform versus tray top
i am considering swapping mine over to just the platform
at the moment it is just holding the awnings & shovel & maxtrax, but they all hang off the side2008 Dune D4D manual GXL update - with lots of fruit !! + Roma Razorback Off Road Van

I got the shorter one to save weight on the roof. The platform, lightbar, awning, maxtrax, shovel and rear lights are 60kg all up. We can only have 100kg on the roof. I can still fit another spare on there or our swags.

Fitted the Rhino platform 19289 x 1236 myself yesterday. I don't mind having a go but have no trade etc. I was given a few tips from the sales / installation guy on how to do it a bit easier. He has a 150 as well. The instructions come with measurements for several rack models. MAKE SURE YOU ARE USING THE ONE FOR YOUR MODEL NUMBER. I didn't and drilled a couple of pilot holes in wrong spot.
He said that he finds it easier to drill holes in the centre of the channel, with the rack up the right way, not upside down as instructions say. He said he has seen too many people drill through off centre only to gouge the top of the channel etc. Instructions say to drill from underneath but there are cross supports in the way making measuring a hassle. I measured several times and had no troubles once I was using the right instructions.
When placing REAR cross rail on roof, measure in 10mm from join / crack in factory roof rail, and put rear of leg there. Do this cross rail first.
This will give you the correct spacing for rack position. Rear...
And front rail leg position.
Worked a treat and Im very happy.

Contemplating a tray/platform.
Would I be correct in saying that the factory rails can only support 75kg (150 GXL) but if you remove and put 3 cross rails the max limit increases to 100kg?
Unsure whether to go for a flat platform or a tray with sides. I guess everything has to be strapped tight up there so the side supports don't actually do anything?2010 150 GXL Ebony Diesel | ARB Delux Bar | ARB Bashplates | GME 3450 UHF | Bilstein/Dobinson lift | SA LED Lighting 185W Spotties | Bridgestone D697LT | Wet Seat covers | LeighW's Voltage booster | Tin75 Pet barrier | 3D Mats'n'boot protector | Onboard ARB CKMA12 Compressor | Rhino Pioneer Platform | Roadsafe Recovery Points | Airtec Snorkel

General consensus on here lately is a flat platform is better SimpleSi. Easier to get stuff on and off. I had one with rails before and sold it and got a platform. It's less noisy in the wind too
