  • Winch to Alloy Toyota Bar anybody done or cheaper to Swap to steel

You might have seen my Prado in the intro section, was a work car which ended lease so looking to build a tourer

but quick pick for those who have not seen

    http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/a...112_204345.jpg

Has anybody fitted a winch to this type of bar I am told it can be fitted behind to a frame which can be fixed to the chassis rails behind the bar or am I better off trying to sell what I have on there (Genuine Toyota with parking sensors) and buying a steel bar which is probably where I am thinking as probably get better angles? And if anybody has done it what sort of money winch aside did you pay?

Secondly What do you think current bar is worth if I chose to wap? Would it sell?

And if I go steel recommendations, idea is to build a tourer for desert runs etc. as I do quite a bit of work in high country and want to set this up over next couple of years for a few of the more epic drives

    thanks

You'll require a winch cradle. Most of the other aftermarket bullbars will give you a better approach angle.

      Yep my thinking is this

Keep it alloy (same sort of weight) but issues I have are no hi lift point and no recovery points .

If I went steel would increased weight affect suspension and sag as somehave said else really it is only ARB inthis case

      Cheers

Depends on what you want to spend........cheapest option is a winch cradle is approach angle really worth 2k+ and if not what's a couple of battle scars on the bottom of the genuine bar going to hurt?
        Can I still play now I have a 200 series?........Had a 2008 120 Series D4D Manual 6 Speed...STANDARD White, Soverign Bar..........Rear Cage........Dashmat.......GX Wheels with Good Year Dura Tracs........Bilstein/Dobbo 2'' lift.....Safari Snorkel....Canvas Seat Covers.....20%tint..........55W HID Headlights.....Mudmats front and rear.....
        22'' Lightbar......

2" lift on ours with genuine alloy, cradle and warn winch and never really had any issues with smashing the front on anything. Just be more alert as to it being alloy and you won't have a problem. Cheapest way with a cradle and winch rather than a new bar, but if money is no issue then do whatever pleases you.
