Pirahna dual battery management system

Hi Group

I have recently started fitting out our 150 and have selected the Pirahna DBE 180s dual battery management system, after fitting the battery tray and battery I started to look for a suitable location for the system to be located and it appears the driverside of the engine bay in between the firewall and air box is the spot.

My question is were do I find a suitable connection off the existing wiring "to a 12volt ignition switched power source" , the instructiions refer to a wiper moter however that is packed neatly away with plenty of plastic

Could I take it back to the fuse panel on the passeger side?

I've got the same setup with the isolator in the location you mentioned. There is a wiring loom that goes into the cowltop where the wiper motor is on the driver side. From memory I think the switched 12v source is the green wire. I'm currently interstate but will confirm this when I get home.

I found the green wire and it was showing a low voltage and aafter ignition was sourced the volatage went up to 12 .5, why would this be so ?

When you say ignition was sourced do you mean it was turned on?
That would explain it going up to 12.5.

I have been looking at all duel battery systems and this type seems to be able to accommodate the largest battery ie 12" whereas others seem to be limited to the 10" .I know 10" is for the petrol and the 12 " is for Diesel but some are also just a standard fit to either engine
TJM have them in Adelaide for about 175.00 . It seems to be a little costly to me . I have the Pirahna duel system from another vehicle so I'll probably retro fit using the TJM set up but hopefully at a better price or maybe some other tray. :?:

Hi Foxy49,

There was a weight issue with the 120, maybe the same with the 150. You can put a 12" Pirahna cradle in
a 120 but I believe Pirahna warn against using to heavy a battery.

Hi Leigh, Mate I must admit I haven't heard that before but then I'm only new here as I had a Ford Explorer before this one and I had my second battery in the back but with the SX shorty I'm needing all the space I can get there , then there is now only the 2 of us. I might give their HQ (Piranha) in Melbourne a call just to find out .for sure Thank you Cheers Foxy

Hi all,

I take delivery of a VX D4D next week. The only mod I'm considering (at this stage) is a dual battery set up for a fridge.

Does anyone have photo's of their battery & hardware installation? I'd be very interested to see the different setups.
