    Re: Arb sahara bar

    Hi

As in some other posts there are no "rated recovery points" for 150 Prados. Also in 120 and 90 series cars the "recovery point" may be "rated" but it is bolted to a chassis that has no "rating" so there is no "rating", please let common sense prevail any 4WD is breakable.

    Regards, Richo.

ps: I have taken standard off the shelf Prados where other 4WD's with extra gear have not gone!! It comes down to driver skill every time, not how much after market gear you have.

      Re: Arb sahara bar

picked up my 150 kakadu last week fitted with sahara bar, winch, duel batteries, gme 3440 uhf, kaymar rear telescopic work light & more than happy with the ARB service work and effort. didn't hesitate when I insited the rear wheel cover had to go back on and all round top job  .
Only prob is the the front camera is far too obscured (a problem I knew would likely be there as ARB have warnings) however I have spoken with the boys at ARB and they are keen to work together to find a fix. Thinking of refitting camera to front of a winch control box. anyone else seen any ideas as a fix??

        Re: Arb sahara bar

        Hi Guys

I have just returned from Cape York.

My ARB bar has so much vibration it has rubbed down to bare steel where the original bumper has been cut away.

This 20mm gap is too small for so much vibration.

        I will post pictures soon.

I am hoping they will re-cut the bumper and re-paint the bar.

        Regards

        Derek

          Hi Derek

What were the corrugations like? Have you seen the side bars released by ARB for the 150, that would reduce the vibration but have a look at them, sharp angles not matching the cars lines, not pretty. Maybe get an engineering shop to mandrill bend something up.

          Regards, Richo.

PS: look forward to your trip report.

I have the same issue with the obscured camera view and tried to make my own housing to relocate the camera to the front of the bar. However the electrical cable for the camera is too short, so I asked my local Toyo dealer about a cable extension and was told that they have a prototype made and awaiting trial reports and approval so they can then supply them. As the effect on the front camera is costing them too much money on the loss of sales on factory fitted bars. Apparently it is a month away from approval but as I said to them I will believe it when I see it. Not holding my breath.

                  Re: Arb sahara bar

The first photo is of the stone chips due to the badly designed rear mud flaps.

The others show the chafing between the body and the bar, I think this gap should be at least 20mm.

I have never been happy with the way the bar jiggles.

My dilemma is do I take it back to ARB for a respray / bumper cut etc ?

                  Regards

                    Re: Arb sahara bar

I would, it obviously hasn't been fitted or tested propertly. I would also be talking to toyota about their crappy mudflaps, they only short to stop drag and improve economy??
Not really designed for our aussie conditions.

                      Hi Derek

My ARB has a 20mm gap which is consistant both sides, I haven't had the corrigations yet but I am going to the Flinders Ranges then the Corner Country after the Pradopoint GTG so I'd be interested to hear ARB's comment. After seeing the rear guards and stone chips, I'll now be investing is some rally style mudflaps.

                      Regards, Richo.

                        Hi Guys

I have had the exact same thing as Derek from our trip. Didn't get it along the sides of the bar but on the edge where the original bumper changes from the top to inside bullbar. I am going to see ARB about it as well. Will let you know. Here are some pics.

                        Thanks

Out of interest i saw a new 150 today with an ugly ECB bar that wraps around the bumper and it looked like it had been rubbing up and down on the side of the bumper, it also didn't exactly look like it had been driven anywhere to hard.

Has anyone actually had the Sahara bar fitted? If so what are their thoughts and any pics?

shame it wasn't parked, then i could have taken numerous, more detailed shots.
