Hi all,
Just after some advice and opinions on bullbars. I have a Dec 2018 Prado GXL Graphite colour and am looking at fitting a bull bar.
The main reason for the bullbar is the improved approach angle, as the couple of times it has been offroad so far the bumper has scraped a bit.
I wont be doing too much outback driving particularly at night so wildlife protection inst too much of a concern but is good to have.
So far i have had a look at a few and have narrowed it down in the following order of preference with some pros and cons:
1 - TJM Outback Bullbar
- From photos i prefer the look of this bar the most
- Includes recovery points
- Bottom bumper section looks chunkier (for the lack of a better word) than others which may compromise the approach angle (Hard to tell from photos)
- Priced at $2900 fitted + colour coding (undecided to colour code or not)
2 - Ironman Premium Bullbar
- Good looking bar on photos
- Cheap compared to others
- Quality? Looking at the demos in store i cant see any issues
- Priced at $2120 fitted + colour coding (undecided to colour code or not)
3 - ARB Summit Sahara Bar
- Tidy look without the extra barwork on top
- More expensive than any other bullbar
- Less protection than a bullbar (But not too concerned about that)
- Priced at $3150 fitted + Colour coding (undecided to colour code or not)
4 - Ironman Proguard with Single Loop
- Similar to the ARB Summit sahara bar for less
- Not sure how it looks on the prado, no photos
- Priced at $2070 Fitted + Colour Coding (undecided to colour code or not)
5 - ARB Summit Bullbar
- Seems to be the most common bar
- Looks good, but prefer the look of others ie the TJM bar
- Most expensive than others
- Priced at $3050 Fitted + Colour Coding (undecided to colour code or not)
That's what I've come up with so far, all the prices are RRP, once i decide i'm sure i'l be able to negotiate a better deal.
As you can see i am also undecided on the color coding, i and the missus (more the missus) dont want the bar to stand out too much, but i think the black bar on the graphite body blends well and doesn't stand out too much as the car is pretty dark. from what ive been told the powder coated finish is tougher and doesn't scratch as easy as a colour coded finish and you save $300 - $400 for colourcoding
Any feedback, information, photos would be great to help me make a decisions.
