  • Fridge Slide - DIY

So i know you can buy one cheap and to be honest, if i could get one that fitted where and how i wanted it, I'd have done gone and bought one.
But there is something about making something exactly the way you want it. Something, that makes me anyways, feel good.

I had built a rear table for the prado sometime back...
    https://www.pradopoint.com.au/forum/...301-rear-table

but wanted a fridge slide to open up and lock right next to it. The fridge needed to open up and lock in place right next to it and the slides on the market, either didnt slide enough, didnt lock out, and slide too much.

So after getting bored this weekend i decided to just build one.
With a stop first to Bunnings for a snag (obviously) and 700mm long lockable sliders, then to steel shop for some equal angle bar.
All up the cost was $110 which when you consider the cost of the prebuilt one, it's doesnt make sense.

    But.....

With a day and a bit to build, tweak paint and install, i know the value for money aint there, but i'm happy with the result. It fits perfectly in place and looks mint.

Ready for the next trip out.

      Looks good mate,

how did you go mounting the slide ? I have a Waeco slide I haven’t mounted it yet but have just did a test fit and it seems the the mounting holes for the actual slide will be pretty much in the same spot as the holes for where you need to bolt down the false floor to the rear seats??

Seems like it will be a mission to mount the false floor with the slide already on unless I take off the slide and mount after.. as my floor will need to be taken out to use rear seats sometimes l, also seems like I can’t use some of the mounting holes to even fix it as the mounting holes will be in the way also for the false floor ??

this is what it looks like on a test fit without mounting

Gurilla oh crumbs. cant help sorry mate. i have a GX so no rear seats for me.

I put a false floor in and wrapped it in carpet. It's bolted down using the factory tie down points with longer bolts that go through and into the frame. The only thing i'd say is that in doing this tye are really far apart.

I've never seen the back seats of a prado (well not those back seats anyways) but can you bolt into the seat frame at all. Depending on the fridge slide length you might be able to fix it to the seat. Do the seat lock down, or can you lift them up from their down position. Just a thought.
