Winch purchase considerations

I plan to get an electric winch for 2016 Prado GLX.
I have a TJM steel bullbar.

2 questions.
1. My local TJM store has just cut ties with TJM and is recommending an Ironman 9500 lb. When i asked if a 12000 or 17000 deserved consiseration because i pull a camper trailer, he painted a picture of bullbars being ripped off and chassis being damaged. Any comments?

2. The Sherpa range seem very good quality and value but are only brisbane based. 5 yr wnty. When i quizzed them on how i deal with issues if they arise around the country, they explained (1) phone support (2) liaise with mechanic that i go to. Failing all that, they will help me get it back to Brisbane. Would u be comfortable with that as opposed to Ironman which might be a slightly 'lesser' product but have presence everywhere?
btw, i can't afford Warn.

Hi Frank, for whats its worth I had a Runva 11XP winch on my hilux for years and never had any issues with it.

I have a Runva 11XP also.
I think you will find the 9500lb winch a little under-gunned especially once you get past the first layer of rope.
You will need to use a snatch block and double up to protect the winch from overloading.

Perhaps ask if the bar capacity ratings have a safe working load and a max load. At least then you know if there is a margin of error.

What are your plans for the winch? I reckon 99% have never been used in anger, a lot of $$ and mass sitting there doing nothing.
Has she got 2-batteries in parallel as a loaded winch draws a heap of amps.
I went for an elcheapo 12000lb Supacentre.
So far in 3-years it's pulled a couple of plants out of the garden.

Yep carco- an important question. How much use will it get in the end?
I'm doing a course with 4wdvic on recovery, and now have the time to go to places where getting stuck is possible and having a reliable winch is actually cheap insurance.

2. Runva or Bushranger seem to be the pick of the mid-tier brands

We have gone to Carbon winch on a few of ours. Found them to be great all rounders. Not one issue so far in 18 months and about 20 uses. Had a runva before that and ended up ripping it off after it failed us on usage 3. Couldn't get warranty, just got stuffed around heaps.. Personally don't recommend them after their poor service.

TJM have their 9500 lb torque winch with sr on sale this month so i decided to go for that. The 5JM bullbar has to come off to fit it and I'm not skilled enough to play with such things.
