  • X gauge parameters for Oct 2020 model transmission temperature

    The X gauge parameters listed below from the Australian Scangauge website for Toyota 2016+ Auto Trans temperature do not seem to work on the latest Prado.
    TXD - 07E02182
    RXF - 046105820000
    RXD - 2808
    MTH - 00010001FFD8

    Anybody got newer information ???

    BDF50 have you had any luck will the scan gauge. I am having the same problems and have tried all the Toyota xgauges with no luck. spoke to Scangauge AUS and they could not offer and solution as well

      Hi Loddo,
      I have no new info yet.
      I too spoke to Scangauge and they suggested the same thing i.e. try all the other Toyota ATF x gauge parameters to see if any of them work.
      Sounds like you've already done that with no success.
      They also mentioned that they had another customer with the same problem - I guess that was you.

      I have found that most other x gauge codes work OK. Just ATF (the one I really want) doesn't.

        See if the Torque Converter Temp gauge works, its a better reading than the ATF temp as it gets hotter:

        TXD - 07E02182
        RXF - 046105820000
        RXD - 3808
        MTH - 00010001FFD8

        Otherwise:
        Various specs say the 21 in TXD means a Toyota specific OBD Mode.
        Maybe they have gone back to the ODB standard Mode, try Mode = 01.

          BDF50 did you get a xcode to work for the torque converter lockup to work as that is the other code that i am after. cheers

            The following Mode/PID works for me on my MY2016 GX, although I don't actually use an X-Gauge

            Gauge: Torque Converter Lockup - TCL
            TXD: 07E02185 Gets 1-line response
            RXF: 046125850000
            RXD: 3001
            MTH: 000100010000

            Incidentally, 2185 can be used to return the automatic transmission's selected gear.

              Hi GeeWhizz
              have already tried that code plus every other code for Toyota's and none of them work on the new my21 Prado. Scangauge Aust in Melbourne have no idea as well . Looks like Toyota have changed things with this new model. I am no smart enough to be able to work these PID'S out

                Hi,
                I have also gone through all the codes, with a nil result. I was initially thinking that my entries or the gauge was at fault, so it looks like I need to stop trying for now. The Auto transmission temperature was the key gauge result I was after, so it is most annoying that we cannot get things to work.

                  Hi All re the scangauge on the lastest prado. I have spoken with the retailer in Melbourne and they wanted details of the car ,what motor ,gear box etc as they have the engineers in the states looking into it. hope in the new year we will have some more info cheers John

                      Hi All,
                      Thought I might bump this thread in case someone has some clues. I've also bought one of these things, primarily to monitor ATF temperatures: but it's pretty useless without any codes.
                      Wish that I had read this thread before shelling out for the Scangauge II.

                        Just checked with Scangauge's website and there appears to have been a very recent update. Have a look here if you have a 2021 Prado 150. Has Toyota has introduced a new ECU to the system??

                          Thanks for the heads up GeeWhizz. I'll give them a try a report back. Not sure whether ECU is new or a remap but Prado and Hilux had a engine makeover last year, with a new turbo, pistons, etc to give 150 Kw power and 500 Nm torque.

                            Have just entered the X Gauge codes in the Scangauge 11 fitted to my Dec 2020 build GXL and am pleased to report that it seems that both ATF temperature readouts function. Hooray! That is ATF temperature at both the oil pan sensor and the torque converter is displayed. Unfortunately it doesn't appear that the torque converter lockup code has been updated and so this function still does not work to display whether the transmission is locked up or not.

                              Hmm. The automatic transmission's gear selection and TC lockup Mode/PID are different to the gearbox temperature Mode/PID in my 2016 6-speed.

                              My 1GD uses the same ECU address (07E0) for both the engine and gearbox PIDs (For comparison, the 1KD uses two sequential addresses: 07E0 for the 1KD engine and 07E1 for the gearbox). The newer 1GDs (2020,2021) use a different format for both the ECU address (07002) and PID (21AAA) for the gearbox temperatures that I do not understand.

                              My only thought is a wild guess. Here's my logic (for my 2016 GX 6-speed): Gearbox temperatures are in 07E0 2182, Gear and TC lockup are 07E0 2185, which is +3 PIDs spots above temperatures.

                              So, could the mapping for the recent Prados be 07002 (21AAA + 3) = 07002 21AAD ? As I've said before, I don't have a recent Prado to try my home-built diagnostics routines on.
