  • Aerial Mount Bracket - Vertical Bar

I have a 150 series with a ARB Summit bar attached. Comes with two aerial mounts pretty central

LHS I have mounted UHF and now want to add another aerial for a Cel-Fi unit. Not keen to use the RHS bracket as that sits in front of driver. Prefer to mount further to the left of existing UHF aerial.

Problem is that the horizontal top bar on the Summit bar extending out to the left (and right) is not actually horizontal so a traditional clamping bracket will have the aerial leaning in. One solution would be to use the vertical bar out near the lights.

I have looked around and cannot locate a vertical bar clamp for the 60.5mm bar.

    Hopefully all that makes sense.

Anyone seen a product that might work?

Depending on the aerial Kaon make a mount that attaches to the bonnet hinge which might be suitable

I've just had a radio fitted to a bar-less Kakadu, and had the installer use one of these Kaon bonnet hinge brackets for the 2.1db antenna. I'm happy with the bracket, although the vehicle is sitting in the garage in lockdown, not on the GRR, so I can't say that it's been thoroughly tested. But it does seem strong, and there's no movement over potholes and speed humps.

That said, with a short, low-db antenna, that location may not give the best coverage, as it's quite close to the windscreen Nor would it with a 6.6db. Ronny Dahl in his tests of antennas uses a roof mount. My problem is that I don't have a roof rack or cross bars, and have no plans to get one, due to payload limitations. What I'd like is an foldable antenna bracket that mounted on the OEM roof rails. My search hasn't located such a thing. If anyone knows of one, both I and possibly the OP would be interested.

Thanks. I was aware of fold-down brackets. The question was more about how to attach one to the OEM rails. Are you saying that that GME bracket simply bolts on?

You will need to adapt it, no one makes one to suit. Heavy duty Right angle and some uni strut nuts will do it.

Look for LED light bar clamps.
