Not entirely correct, whilst the TJM bar does not require the front bumper bar to be cut the plastic inner guards inside your wheel arch requires trimming to match up with the side wing guards, you also need to trim a small piece off of the headlight support mount. Both of these cuts are not a big deal but you cannot just pull the bull bar off and whack the old bumper back on, you would need to spend a couple of hundred dollars at Toyota to get some new inner guards.

In regards to making a bar that just fits over the OE bumper bar, ECB make one, looks like somebody just chucked some alloy at the front of a car and hoped for the best but there is one out there, the main reason that TJM and ARB do not make a bar to sit over the OE bumper bar is approach angle plus being able to make a bar look like part of the car not apart from it which IMO is what ECB achieved.

Re: ARB BAR vs TJM BAR

Does anybody have a photo of a TJM bar, black but without colour coding on the headlight surround?? I presume that the supplied headlight surround is in black plastic.
And... any pics of a TJM polished alloy bar??

I am finding this decision about bullbars to be harder than any other accessory. I have not yet seen one that looks really good. So it becomes a question of which one is more acceptable.

      Any help appreciated.

        g'day tezza
If ya check out my build up I have got the black plastic insert not colour coded on the tjm. Not because I wanted it but cause the paint shop stuffed it up. I should be getting replacements anytime now. It is a matt black dull sort of colour at a glance you don't notice it too bad on a black car but it's still not right. Which reminds me I have to get on to them again. They been about to post it for two weeks now...

Re: ARB BAR vs TJM BAR

Today I have purchased a black steel T13 Winch Compatible Bullbar ($1650 supplied and fitted) + free under body sump guard ($0) + a pair XGT Lightforce lights with one diffuser ($600 supplied and fitted) also includes an on/off switch that fits perfectly in the Prado’s blanks on the dashboard.

Total - $2250 from TJM Bundaberg

          Having it installed tomorrow.

Other prices I was quoted include:

The TJM store in the Beef Capital of Queensland, same bulbar $1900 fitted with two under body bash plates for free and an eye watering $900 for S/F of the Lightforce lights.

My Brother lives in Brisbane and he phoned a TJM store on the Southside of the river and was quoted $2100 for the TJM T13 bar.

On the subject of the TJM bar being a ‘bumper replacement’ it is no longer the case. The salesman told me today that they now cut the original bumper bar as the plastic infill that they had on the earlier bars had a tendency to flatten out – meaning the poor quality plastic didn’t keep its shape.

Hi Rob31.00, that’s weird, TJM Bundaberg said that the under body guard is a promotion being run by TJM at the moment. Maybe the cleaner picked up the phone when you rang????

                      Hi Noahboy,

Welcome to PP, I'm new myself.

Price excluded colour coding. I have settled for the black. TJM Bundaberg quoted $250 for colour coding. As a point of interest they had just completed the install of a colour coded bar the same colour as yours and it looked great. Another store from my earlier post quoted $500 for painting – but like they said they don’t do it in-house they have to send it out to get done.

Whilst this is sort of correct, the TJM Bars on the 150 will be a bumper cut for a short period of time until the issue with the infill panels are resolved, it is true that they were not keeping their shape during transport / storage but also had painting issues, nothing to do with poor quality plastic but as there is a little more to it then that. They have used my car a couple of times now to check the new batches of infill panels and when they are happy with them they will be re - released. My infill panels fit perfectly and I have not had 1 issue with them.

                          ARB BAR vs TJM BAR

Would this mean that those of us with the old panels should expect to see some distortion? And if this is a common issue will tjm readily replace? I haven't even got my panels yet...

I would be very surprised if you had any issues with it, you can tell straight away as soon as they come out of the box if there is an issue with them. Also the other issue is the paint shop, if they do not read the instructions right on how to paint them you could also see issues. As I said, mine are the 1st round and fit perfectly and I have had no issues with them. I am sure in the unlikly event of you having an issue your local TJM store would take care of it for you.

Phew, how many times can I type issues...
