Well I think they got the styling right from the bumper line (below the grill) up.
I like the head light hoops and bonnet cross bar but the lower outer corners seem very bulky.
Needs to be a sharper more (ARB style) angle, line through the fog light area to the front wheel arch.
I would still like to see a version to suit the 120 Series.

Re: Behind the Scenes Shots of SmartBar's Toyota Prado 150 range

I don`t mind it at all, not like other bars look that good. The new Prado doesn`t seem to work well with any bar, not as good looking as the previous model.
On steel bars, well sticking 80kg plus winch on the front of Prado is a bit mad, just my opinion of course. Around 100kg hanging way out in front, plus a second battery must do wonders for handling and braking performance. Surprised that it even meets ADR etc.It must throw out your braking distance, handling, fuel economy and safety of the vehicle. If you toughen the suspension to suit, what does that do to your chassis when flogging along corrugation etc.
Alloy is a bit better, but still a lot of weight.

On departure angle, the smartbar may make it worse, but if you seriously look into it, you find that often steel or alloy bars from TJM, ARP and others also make your departure angle worse.

Don`t get me wrong, at times bars are necessary, its too easy nudging things with your front corners when doing tight 4wdriving and the risk of animal strikes leaving you stranded in the outback. Its also nice to mount a winch on one, but progress is good. You flatearthers.
stepped up the a 200 LC for towing,
but had a 2012 and 2010 150 Prado GXL auto diesel in Graphite with Bridgestone D697 A/T. Dobinson C59-300/325 and Bilsteins. Accessories : two baby seats. Sidewinder`s Dual Battery isolator and rear power outlet kit. Pirana Battery tray, Hayman Reese towbar with Toyota wiring kit and Brains`s guard.

Wish bull-bar manufacturers would start using LED park and indicator lights, Globes are now a thing of the past. LED looks so much better and brighter. I think ECB has don a great job in putting LED's across their range.

With the numbers of 120 Series Prado's sold in Australia Why is it that there was never a SmartBar developed for this model?

                            Hello all,

Weight is the only thing I like about this Smart Bar and that leads me to ask "do you remove the standard front bumper entirely, cut it in half or leave it all in situ when you fit the Smart Bar".

ARB cut the bumper in half, TJM replace it completely, goodness knows what others do. If the front bumper is cut or replaced what is the actual additional weight on the front of the vehicle when it is fitted.

Price is also a consideration of course.

                            regards

I have been advised it is a "replacement" bar..
original bumper is removed completely !!!
I doubt the weight of the original bumper being removed is going to make that much of a difference in the grand scheme of things !!!

                                Hi Discoveraus,

I see you’re interested in SmartBar as a lightweight alternative to steel and alloy bars. SmartBar is a bumper trim, so to install it, you have to cut the original bumper skin. And it only adds 27.4 kg to the weight of the vehicle, - up to 56kg lighter than those traditional bars.

If you’ve got any other questions just let us know.

                                Cheers,

                                SmartBar
