• Guys......
Well.... went down to the Toyota Dealer today to find out what can be done..... Well, so far the guys have been good, but it will come down to what Toyota Aust HQ have to say. They said they have never come across this before and didn't know of anyone else experiencing this..... surely Toyota Australia would advise their ALL Toyota Dealers throughout Australia of "out of the ordinary" issues, etc that customers have experienced, especially if they all have Monthly &/or 6mthly meetings as they say they do......
Re: Car
They took photos, noted what extras fitted, kms on the speedo. Took it around to the panel shop for their Panel Beater can have a look and give a quote of repair costs......
The hope is that this is not going to be a long drawn out process..... few weeks to a month time span was spoken about, but in the end it will come down to the Toyota HQ guys and what they think after they inspect it.....I expect.....

Watch this post..... hopefully with a GOOD outcome...... that's what I'm praying for at least

• Lets see wether they say "sorry sir but you have aftermarket suspension in there which has caused the cracking"" what you reckon ?? I hope for your sake not, other wise it will turn into a legal shit fight. Then I would be posting it all over acurrent affairs/today tonight. Maybe see if there is any one else out their that has cracks but with standard suspension will help your cause if they use this excuse ?? Be prepared so you can fire back straight away at them........Cheers Steve

• Rob good to hear the guys at the dealer have been good so far and sorry to hear that you have developed cracks, I was talking to the dealer I bought from a couple of weeks ago and I asked about non genuine accessories and the warranty(didn't mention what accessories just asked in general that they didn't automatically void the warranty but had to cause the problem) and he said they had just been sent a picture of a 150 with cracks and a steel bar and said something like that and you are on your own. I hope for yours and everyone else's sake that that was just an agents opinion and not a directive from Toyota Hq. Fingers crossed for you that its sorted out quickly.

Cheers,

• That is an odd place for a crack to appear considering there doesn't appear to be any thing sitting on top and that it is away from the mounting holes near it, straight to the garage tonight to have a look.

See ya on the tracks, Richo.

• I don't think too many people will find any problems with their day to day driving.... I reckon this was done from our recent outback trip where we travelled over the usual corrugated outback dirt roads. Even though we went across the simpson desert, I reckon it's more the corrugated dirt roads that has possibly done the damage. I did the usual thing of adjusting the tyre pressures and drove according to the road conditions. Even though I didn't look b4 or directly after our trip, I reckon the trip is more likely the cause..... but in saying that, it's not as if we travelled for for hours on end, day after day on corrugated roads...... ANY make of car that cannot handle these sort of road conditions should not be sold in Australia. They especially should not be advertised as being able to handle those sort of outback conditions like they continually do when advertising new cars.....

• Rob

My concern is that we have done the Simpson Desert, Birdsville, Oodnadatta, Strezlecki Tracks and the Flinders Ranges in our 150 all in one trip and I have never looked for cracks. The worst were the Ooodnadatta track and the road from Windorah to Birdsville, I agree if anything it would be the corrigations and rocks half the size of a soccer ball that were just impossible to miss all of them.

Richo.

• Hey Richo.....
What sort of accessories do u have on your vehicle??
Bullbar? Winch? Dual Bartteries? Aftermarket Suspension?

I agree with u in regards to all the rocks, etc.... hard to see & miss them all, but still a vehicle should still be able to handle the odd unseen bump &/or dip in the road w/o falling apart....
Just wondering whether they made the body mounts too soft which then allows the body to move more than it should, creating metal fatigue ??
cheers..... Rob (macca)

• Hi Rob

I have OME Nitrocharger Sports shockies and springs, medium springs front and back, Firestone Airbags in the rear, ARB Steel winch bar with Avenger Mako TDS 9.5 winch (Dyneema), dual batteries, IPF spotties, UHF aerial, Couplertech, some extra relays and such, Outback Ideas recovery points (1kg each) and MT ATZ 4 rib 265/70/17 tyres.

The only thing to go under the bonnet now is an ARB compressor, so I would probably have as much gear over the front axles as any body else and if you saw the condition of my MT's at 40000kms you would see that they have done some hard yards, let's hope it is an isolated incident and that Toyota do the right thing and repair/replace the panel properly.

Richo.
