Is this only with vehicles fitted with bullbars and dual batteries ?? Or just from corrugated roads mainly ?? Or happening to stock standard 150 prado's ?? I'm tossing up between another Prado (second hand V6 150) or going second hand Y62 patrol TiL. I'm not going to buy a 150 if this is a major issue as like my 120 it will have bullbar, lift etc... I was informed the 2013 model was fixed of this problem by Toyota ?? Cheers

Who won't cover your Prado? First I have heard of chassis cracks.

Im in the motions of buying a new 2016 GXL Prado and was informed they will not cover my prado if i fit a ARB steel bar as it cracks the chassis and will fit a toyota alloy bar in lieu for a whopping $3750 fitted. Anyone followed up these claims ??

Looks good, it'll be interesting to see how it goes.

I had the Toyota patch installed on my drivers side guard after the guard had cracked on my first Madigan Line trip but after my trip this year across the Ann Beadell Hwy, Connie Sue Hwy, Sandy Blight Junction Rd, Gary Junction Rd and back across the Madigan Line again I got home to discover that the patch had cracked as well. I forgot to check throughout the trip to see how it was holding up, so I can't say if it was the corrugations on the ABH or the endless moguls on the Madigan Line causing thousands of full suspension compressions that caused it.

    Battery Brace

Looking to do some bigger trips later this year. After reading about all the cracked guards I wanted to do something before I hit the prolonged corrugations and rough stuff.

I was going to install a patch kit and noticed that several members had success bracing the battery after initial repairing/welding of cracked guards. Seemed like a simple solution. Without the bracing the guards would crack again but with a brace they held up after numerous trips.

I made this for the passenger side and have gone to a smaller battery and will make something similar for the 2nd battery. Battery is rock solid now. Prior to the brace I could flex the battery a couple of millimetres.

All the answers you need are in this thread, just go a few pages back. Min email was welded and then genuine patch panel fitted underneath

Photos would be on here some where.....
