  • Vibration rattle at 1800 - 2100rpm (diesel model)

Anyone know the source of the annoying vibration related rattle coming from the driver's side front quarter panel or engine bay area?

Occurs under load between approx 1800 - 2100rpm in the diesel powered version of the 150.

This is not the 1500rpm vibration rattle but something else that has come loose.

I've also noted another rattle coming from the under bonnet fuel filter which is intermittant. If you put your hand on the filter it stops. I played around with the wiring harness and it seems to have dissapeared for now.

These rattles drive me crazy.......I wish Toyota would fix the air intake once and for all to stop this crap!!

I feeling your pain on that one, I've got the same rattle, I can't work out what it is either.

Well my dealer is going to have a look next week and I will post results.

Curious how it comes and goes, last night it was raining and guess what no rattle. I wonder whether it is the plastic grill in the lower portion of the front bumber as it is quite loose. Then again there are 2 plastic panels (air flow guides for the fan maybe) one either side accessible from under the car at each side of the radiator that are permaently loose and have self adhesive foam where they touch the body etc.

There is a noise that sounds a bit like a rattle that comes from where the windscreen sits in the plastic. Check if the noise goes away when you put water on the windscreen, it's all explained in the thread linked above.

Guys I am well aware of the 1500rpm rattle and associated threads as per my first post here. This is completely different and comes from under the bonnet in the front right side/corner somewhere.

Riv39, having spent 12 months chasing and ultimately eliminating all the rattles I discovered that some don't necessarily come from where the sound sound seems to be coming from. I found the rattles really annoying and being a mech engineer I figured that it must be possible to eliminate them. Part of the solution is eliminating the source which is the engine resonance, which my mod did. The other part is tracking down a few loose or poorly fitting bits and pieces.

I fixed the last rattle about 12 months ago and haven't had any come back despite doing some travel on very badly corrugated roads. I found that rattles are something that the dealers don't really have the time or interest to track down, probably because they can't claim it back from Toyota and also because sometimes they are hard to replicate.

Thanks krypto, this one was associated to the air intake box. Dealer fixed it and all good now.
