  • Reviver for Window Rubber and Metal Window Frames

    Hi,

The exterior rubber and black metal parts around my windows is looking a bit faded. Anyone know of any products that can be used to revive these parts to a new look?

I've tried silicon spray but it doesn't last. Wash and Wax doesn't seem to do anything either.

    I use this stuff

Works really well. Not just on the rubbers but also the flares on the Rodeo etc. Any unpainted plastic or rubber. Better in my opinion that armourstuff. No matter how good the product is you will have to apply it reasoanble regularly anyway.

Tyre spray works well too. It lasts a lot longer than silicone spray. No name brand from Kmart is fine.

I used a product called "Rubber Dressing" which is a greenish goop from this mob http://sierrachem.com.au/index.html on the inlaws boat dashboard which was nearly white from sundamage and 15 years in a marina. It came up to almost new again and stayed a nice shiney black for about 4 months, even after that 4 months it still looked great and stayed black but lost some of the gloss, i didn't feel the need to re apply it for for about a year and gave it a touch up just before selling it. These are probably the most extreme conditions for sun damage and it worked a treat. Oh the dash was a combo of plastics and rubber bits and it worked the same on both surfaces.
All the products they sell are made by them and are 100% Aussie owned & made.

Please note that the owner of this companys name is Macca and he is a mate of mine and i have got the odd freeby from him. That is not the reason why i am recommending it though, the stuff works better than anything i've seen in the past. i just wanted to be upfront with our members so no-one can whinge that it was a dodgey/biased sales pitch lol.
I know it may sound completely biased & full of shite, but to be perfectly honest out of the 10 or so products of his i've used they have all worked really well and a can't fault any of them.....oh actually yes i can, the "Re-Vive" rubber & plastic stuff which is an aerosol spray and i use on my motorbike leathers has a really pretty and seriously girly smell and caused me to be aproached by strange men in the street named Bruce and Maurice.

Shameless (but honest) sales pitch over.

        Cheers

I use the same, great stuff and will keep new looking new, add life to the old. Once the rubber has oxidized and began breaking down you have really reached a replacement point.

I found Autoglym Bumper and Trim Gel. I'll give it a go if I can find it at repco. Supercheap didn't have it.
