going off on a tangent here, but the pics posted by Chris1807, esp the last one has rust colored spots on the framework? is this rust or just red dust?

This Morning i had contact with Outback Ideas to let us know that the 150 points are getting closer.
His words were "finally have the Prado 150 designed. Will get them tested etc ".

Tell Outback ideas you have a dozen + testers lined up if they want

Hey guys just an update on the outback ideas recovery points i spoke to the owner this morning and he was at the laser cutters finalising them and should be available next week he reckons rrp same as 120 was his words i am waiting for the updated price list from him today.

I asked the guru's at the ARB stand at the recent Perth 4x4 show when the recovery points would be available and he said they are telling people to use the factory points with a equaliser strap (cant remember the exact name of it but connects the two and spreads the load)...He said the factory points are substantial enough ?????

I got told that at an ARB store too about the 120... but the recovery kit cost more than the recovery points he had for sale. coincidence?

Is it something like a 'recovery bridle"? i have been told the same, but at the same time i have been told by another person that they are just tie down points and separate recovery points would be "good". That's where i am more confused :?

The recovery bridle or equaliser strap spreads the load between the 2 points. Effectively, if the bridle or strap forms a V-shape of equal length, then the load is exactly half and therefore, the factory tie down points have less of a chance of being ripped off the chassis.

i'm certain Nick would put a set on his 150 series to test if he needed to..

i don't know about you guys, but the only place i can get this thing stuck is on the sand - but even then i can reverse out. maybe i'm not trying hard enough

I agree with the sand (got stuck on the weekend up to the floor, a error of judgment on when to stop in the soft powder), unsuccessful snatch, in the end, it was a pair of max tracks that got me out. First time I have been on the beach with out them, first time i needed them..... Wife not letting that one go for a while, I'll tell you.
Will most likely fit recovery points when they are available, but I do question their need, considering where we go.

I received an email this morning regardng the points from Outback Ideas.

"Hi the 150s are being cut they were modelled on an ARB winch bar. They still need to be tested and protected this will all be done early next week. Cheers John"

I was able to source the recovery points for the 150 series at 4x4 All terrain shop in Melbourne. But the thing is i am not able to get them fixed before or after christmas as everyone is flat out booked. The only dates i got were after 4th of Jan 2011 :evil:

The Outback Ideas Recovery Points for the 150 Prado ARE IN STOCK!

They retail for $160.

I will post some photos of them and some shots of them on our 150 ASAP.
